Fire at Seoul Hospital Prompts Evacuation of 300

A food court on the third floor of the Severance Hospital's main building in western Seoul has been destroyed by fire.Firefighters believe the blaze at Severance Hospital in Sinchon, western Seoul started at around 7: 56 am (local time).

It was completely extinguished by 10 am.

According to authorities, no one was badly injured, but eight people inside the building suffered from smoke inhalation and were transferred to other sections of the hospital complex.

Officials believe some smoke remains on the second to fifth floors of the building, but did not spread any higher. The hospital said outpatient consultation rooms and patient wards are located on the seventh floor and above.

The blaze follows deadly fires which broke out in a commercial building in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province in December, 2017, which killed 29 people and at a hospital in Miryang, South Gyeongsang Province last month, which killed 40 people./.
