Fire at Seoul Hospital Prompts Evacuation of 300

A fire broke out on the morning of February 3 at one of the largest hospitals in the Republic of Korea (RoK) leading to the evacuation of about 300 patients, their families, and hospital employees, no serious injuries have been reported.

It was completely extinguished by 10 am.

According to authorities, no one was badly injured, but eight people inside the building suffered from smoke inhalation and were transferred to other sections of the hospital complex.

Officials believe some smoke remains on the second to fifth floors of the building, but did not spread any higher. The hospital said outpatient consultation rooms and patient wards are located on the seventh floor and above.

The blaze follows deadly fires which broke out in a commercial building in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province in December, 2017, which killed 29 people and at a hospital in Miryang, South Gyeongsang Province last month, which killed 40 people./.
