Ba Canh Mound Relic belongs to Oc Eo period & late Oc Eo period

On July 4, Long An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Vietnam National History Museum to report preliminary results of the excavation of Ba Canh Mound relic, Hung Dien commune, Tan Hung district.

Ba Canh Mound relic was discovered by Long An Museum in 1989 - 1990. The relic consists of many different mounds, Lang Bien hamlet, Hung Dien commune, Tan Hung district.

The relic belongs to the system of relics located in an ancient alluvial terrace, along Dong Thap Muoi basin area.

In 2010, Ba Canh Mound relic were surveyed by Vietnam National Museum of History and Long An Museum. A yoni and a piece of stone linga brought by the people from Gai Mound to Ba Canh Mound were discovered.

In 2018, the National Museum of History and Long An Museum continued to survey the site. They also concluded that it had both residence and religious architecture.

In 2019, Vietnam National Museum of History cooperated with Long An Museum - Library to excavate the site.

As a result, archaeologists identified residential areas and ancient architectural vestiges. They also collected some precious artefacts made of stone, bone and ceramic.

Thanks to the excavation, the archaeologists affirmed that the Ba Canh Mound relic belonged to the Oc Eo period & the late Oc Eo period.
