Dak Lak woos visitors with community-based tourism

NDO/VNA - The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak targets welcoming 810,000 tourists, including 75,000 foreigners this year, earning US$33.3 million, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The province will develop community-based and ecological tourism on the back of the local advantages of natural landscapes and rich ethnic culture.

Community-based tourism projects will be developed in Yang Lanh village in Buon Don district, Ya village in Krong Bong district, Tring village in Buon Ho township, with a focus on traditional culture, ethnic rituals and cuisine, giving visitors a chance to eat, live and join in activities with the locals.

Priority will be given to Yok Don national tourism area and agricultural and community-based tourism project in Cu Sue commune (Cu M’gar district), along with resorts and entertainment and sporting areas in Buon Ma Thuot city and districts of Buon Don, Lak and Cu M’gar.

Last year, the provincial tourism sector welcomed 703,000 holidaymakers, up 13.2% annually, including 67,000 foreign and 636,000 domestic visitors, earning over VND610 billion (US$ 26.7 million), exceeding the target by 1.67%./.
