The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) will host a press conference in Hanoi to introduce the country as a tourist destination on March 29 during the Vietnam International Travel Mart 2019 (VITM), according to Vu The Binh, member of the VITM organising board.
The DPRK National Tourism Administration confirmed the country would have a booth promoting the destinations and tour packages at the VITM, which takes place on March 27-30 in Hanoi.
The country hopes to attract Vietnamese tourists to the country and help its travel firms boost ties with their Vietnamese counterparts.
HanoiRedTour Company is one of the first Vietnamese enterprises to offer tours to the DPRK including Pyongyang, Kaesong and the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), starting from April 5.
The mart will include more than 500 booths showcasing tourism products and destinations, bringing together travel companies from 25 countries and territories.
It’s expected that more than 32,000 tour packages and 20,000 air tickets will be sold at the event. Binh estimated that the VITM will attract 85,000 visitors this year.
During the four-day event, art performances will be held featuring vi dam (folk singing) from the central province of Nghe An, traditional dance of Indonesia, Karatedo from Japan, K-pop from the Republic of Korea and traditional arts of Malaysia./.
