Long An Province strives to be in the top 10 of the national PGI rankings for the 2024-2025 period
According to the results of the 2023 PGI announcement by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Long An province achieved 23.07 points, ranked 12th in the national PGI rankings (increased 16 places compared to 2022) and ranked 3rd in the Mekong Delta region with specific scores of 4 component indices as follows:
Minimizing environmental pollution and negative impacts of climate change: Achieved 7.15 points (highest score is 7.71; lowest is 4.12), ranked 22/30 provinces and cities with the highest scores in component index 1.
Ensuring compliance with minimum environmental standards: Achieved 6.02 points (highest score is 7.89; lowest is 3.85), ranked 29/30 provinces and cities with the highest score in component index 2.
Leadership role of provincial government in environmental protection: Achieved 4.06 points (highest score is 7.07; lowest is 3.28), ranked 26/30 provinces and cities with the highest score in component index 3.
Preferential policies and support services for businesses in environmental protection: Achieved 5.84 points (highest score is 6.02; lowest is 4.04), ranked 3rd out of 30 provinces and cities with the highest scores in component index 4.
To continue improving the investment environment, aiming towards green growth and sustainable development, moving towards upgrading the PGI rankings of the whole country and the Mekong Delta region in the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to implement tasks and solutions to improve and enhance the Provincial Green Index (PGI) for the period 2024-2025 in Long An province.
The general goal is to raise awareness and determination of the entire political system in implementing the work of improving the investment and business environment, improving the quality of environmental governance, aiming towards green growth and sustainable development; develop and plan policies to promote the development of an environmentally friendly business ecosystem, increase the attraction of investors with environmental protection awareness and green quality projects for the province.
The specific goal is to prioritize focusing on specific, creative, practical solutions to improve the scores and rankings of the 4 component indices. In which, focus on solutions to improve the scores and rankings of component indices 1, 2, 3; focus resources to continue improving the scores, maintain the ranking of component index 4; strive for Long An province to be in the top 10 on the national PGI rankings in the period 2024-2025.
The Provincial People's Committee also proposed groups of solutions to improve the PGI component indices: Minimize environmental pollution and negative impacts of climate change; ensure compliance with minimum environmental standards; enhance the leadership role of the provincial government in environmental protection; implement preferential policies and support services for businesses in environmental protection.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors and localities to develop the Implementation Plan of their sectors, units and localities and specify it into tasks in the annual work plan, clearly defining each goal, task, specific measures, clearly assigning the roles and responsibilities of the heads. Periodically before December 15 of the year, provincial departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities shall review and evaluate the implementation results of their sectors and levels, and send them to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for monitoring, synthesis and reporting to the Provincial People's Committee.
At the same time, Long An will continue to effectively implement the Action Plan on green growth for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 in the province with the goal of ensuring rapid and sustainable economic development, economical and efficient use of energy and natural resources; continue to promote administrative reform at agencies and units./.
