The dedicated 'ferrymen'

Teaching is considered the noblest of all noble professions, made by the constant efforts, wholehearted devotion to students and the profession, and silent sacrifice of teachers. Not only devoted in each lecture, teachers also accompany every step of the maturity of students, contributing to training the future generations of the country.

The passion of a teacher at the leading school

After 22 years of working in the profession, Mr. Dam Van Tuyen - Principal of Tran Van Giau High School for the Gifted, is trusted by colleagues and students for his dedication, responsibility, and always puts the development of students and the school community first.

From the first years of teaching to taking on the role of Principal, he always maintained the spirit of learning and responsibility. In 2011, he was appointed as Vice Principal of Long An High School for the Gifted (now Tran Van Giau High School for the Gifted). In 2019, he became the Principal of the school and then, in 2023, he was transferred to Nguyen Trung Truc High School - Ben Luc (Ben Luc Commune) also in the role of Principal. This October, he returned to Tran Van Giau High School for the Gifted with many new expectations.

The time he spent as the “locomotive” of a newly established school - Nguyen Trung Truc High School - Ben Luc was a special mark for Mr. Tuyen. Because the school was newly established, everything almost started from the starting line. He said: “For a long time, I sat in the corner of the coffee shops near the school to listen to the conversations of teachers, students and parents. From there, I learned more about their comments, assessments and better understood their wishes to find suitable solutions”.

In management work, Mr. Tuyen clearly identified long-term and specific strategic goals for each school year, from which he built a short-term and long-term roadmap suitable to reality. The Board of Directors must take the lead, always setting an example for teachers and students. For him, creating confidence for teachers is very important; Confidence to help them dare to try, do better and maximize their capacity. Mr. Tuyen believes: "Students' success is also teachers' success". All educational activities are directed towards students. He often conveys that teachers must consider students as their own children in order to love and wholeheartedly guide them. For him, the reputation of the school is built from the quality of the collective and the efforts of each individual. It is the love for the profession and the desire to contribute that helps him always have the spirit of innovation, leading the collective to unite and develop.

In the role of principal, Mr. Tuyen does not avoid tasks, seeing them as opportunities to accumulate experience and train himself. In organizing activities, he always promotes democracy, all major matters are discussed with the collective but still ensures decisiveness. With limited decisions that have not achieved the desired results, he is ready to take responsibility and learn from experience. Mr. Tuyen shared: “Improving the quality of the teaching team is a key task. Therefore, I encourage teachers to self-study and self-train, considering this a key factor, and at the same time create all conditions for teachers to visit and learn from experiences in schools with achievements, participate in training courses and boldly innovate”.

Each school year, in addition to the general task, he will choose to completely resolve 1-2 limitations of the previous year so that the school can continuously progress. In addition, along with knowledge education, he especially focuses on moral education and life skills for students. He always instills in students confidence and the aspiration to improve; allows them to make mistakes, thereby training better, especially through extracurricular activities. The school currently has 25 clubs proposed by students themselves, self-managed under the advice of teachers, creating an environment for comprehensive capacity development for students.

For Mr. Tuyen, the goal of education is not only knowledge but also personality and skills. It is this passion that contributes to fostering a dynamic, humane and increasingly developing learning environment at the leading school.

Responsibility to students

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Vi in a teaching session

With 26 years of experience in the profession, Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Thi Kim Vi, Nguyen Van Chieu Secondary School (Tan Tru commune), is always dedicated and maintains her love for the profession. Stemming from her admiration for her Math teachers, she is determined to pursue teaching - a profession that is "both challenging and honorable".

During the teaching process, Ms. Vi is dedicated to her students, especially changing her teaching methods to help them learn more effectively. In particular, implementing the 2018 General Education Program, she proactively innovates teaching methods in the direction of promoting students' abilities.

Ms. Vi shared: “For each lesson, I carefully prepare the content and choose the appropriate way to convey it to each audience. I create problematic situations for students to think, encourage experience, practice, and especially focus on guiding them to apply Math knowledge to life. Activities such as measuring tree height, calculating land area, tour costs, or designing their own models help students understand that Math is not only on the pages of books but also exists in every practical activity.” In addition to the task of imparting knowledge, Ms. Vi always believes that moral education and life skills are an important foundation. In each lesson, she integrates training in honesty, carefulness, perseverance, the ability to observe, analyze problems, and responsibility for oneself. For her, each good lesson not only helps students understand the lesson but also forms the right attitude towards life.

Spreading love from silent lessons

Ms. Bui Thi Kim Hue and her students

Among the many choices in the Pedagogy field, Ms. Bui Thi Kim Hue - a teacher at the School for Children with Disabilities, chose the seemingly most difficult path: Special Education - where every day in class not only requires expertise but also a lot of love, patience and tolerance for less fortunate students. That decision came to her as an unexpected opportunity. From the introduction of a close friend, she began to learn about the profession and was moved by the image of teachers silently helping disabled children integrate into life. The more she learned, the more she admired and chose to enter the industry as a way to share love and contribute to opening up development opportunities for them. In a special education environment, each student is a separate individual, with very different characteristics, needs and abilities, which requires teachers to be flexible and creative. For Ms. Hue, the foundation of all teaching activities is a personal education plan built at the beginning of each school year and regularly adjusted according to each student's progress. Each plan aims to develop strengths, foster practical skills, increase practice activities, experience and connect with life. Ms. Hue shared: “In the teaching process, I focus on using many different teaching methods and forms: from visual aids, pictures, real objects to information technology applications. Each lesson is coded simply and clearly, combining body language so that students can easily absorb. “Teaching through action and experience” is a consistent principle - because only when directly manipulated, children can remember and form sustainable skills. Difficult content is often repeated systematically to reinforce; overly complex requirements are adjusted to suit each student's ability.”

In addition, Ms. Hue always tries to build a safe and friendly learning environment. Students' seats are arranged reasonably to provide timely support, combining students with good and less good abilities to help each other improve. Every compliment, every little encouragement is used by her at the right time to motivate the children - children whose progress, even the smallest, is a long journey of effort.

Teaching children with disabilities means facing many hardships, sometimes tiring, even discouraging, but what helps Ms. Hue persevere is the joy of witnessing each small change in her students: a polite greeting, a thank you, knowing how to apologize, knowing how to express needs, knowing how to adjust their voice or simply the moment when the children wait for her in front of the classroom door to enter a new class. To her, each of those improvements is precious and worthy of her and her students' perseverance.

According to Ms. Hue, the most important thing in educating children with disabilities is to “take the child as the center and implement personalization”. Each student has their own abilities and teaching must respect that difference. Some students need to be trained in basic self-service skills; some need to expand their vocabulary and practice communication; some need to be supported to express their needs through pictures and gestures. When they learn the right things, they will be confident, positive and achieve their own success.

Throughout her career, Ms. Hue has always chosen to quietly accompany, persistently sowing small seeds in each lesson. The achievements are not noisy but persistent and humane: bringing love to open the door of life for children who need more support.

From silent efforts and loving hearts, teachers spread the good values of the teaching profession. The journey of teachers is one of perseverance and dedication to contribute to opening up opportunities, nurturing dreams and helping generations of students to develop./.
