Vietnamese embassies hold memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong

Vietnamese people, international friends and diplomatic agencies’ representatives in many countries have expressed their deep condolences on the passing of the former Vietnamese leader.

The Vietnamese embassies in the Netherlands, Slovakia and Brunei held a memorial service and opened a condolence book for former President Tran Duc Luong.

At the event held at the Vietnamese embassy in The Hague on May 26, Vietnamese people in the Netherlands, international friends and diplomatic agencies’ representatives expressed their deep condolences on the passing of the former Vietnamese leader, who made important contributions to the revolutionary cause and national development during the renewal process.

On the same day, ambassadors, representatives of embassies and international organisations in the Netherlands visited, signed the condolence book, and sent letters of condolences and diplomatic notes expressing respects for former President Tran Duc Luong.

On May 25, the Vietnamese Embassy in Slovakia held a memorial service and opened the condolence book to commemorate former President Tran Duc Luong.

Ambassador Pham Truong Giang reviewed the milestones in the journey of tireless dedication of former President Tran Duc Luong who left a deep mark in the process of innovation and international integration of Vietnam.

International friends in Slovakia also sent letters of condolences, in which, they highlighted the role and contributions of former President Tran Duc Luong to Vietnam's development as well as cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and countries and international partners.

Meanwhile, a memorial service was held on May 24 at the Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei.

At the event, Ambassador Tran Anh Vu emphasised former President Tran Duc Luong's contributions to the cooperation between Vietnam and Brunei, especially through his state visit to Brunei in 2001 and his high-level meetings with Brunei leaders.

Representatives from Vietnam’s partners in Brunei also extended their deep condolences to the Party, State, people of Vietnam and the family of the late leader, and highly valued the role and contributions of the former President.

In the condolence book, the Cambodian Ambassador to Brunei wrote that former President Tran Duc Luong will be remembered for his career and long-term dedication to the development and prosperity of Vietnam and the promotion of peace, stability and cooperation in the region./.
