April has come, and on all the roads there are not only images of brilliant flags and flowers, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) but also heroic melodies resounding in the media. Emotions about the years of "cutting through Truong Son to save the country", the moments of "faster; bolder; seizing every minute, every hour; rushing to the front; liberating the South" seem to surge in the hearts of every Vietnamese citizen.

In the book History of the Long An Provincial Party Committee (1930-2000), it is recorded: On April 14, 1975, the Central Party Politburo decided to launch the Ho Chi Minh Campaign to liberate Saigon - Gia Dinh. Together with the spearheads of the 5th Division, the main force of the region, the army and people of Long An - Kien Tuong were directed by the 2 Provincial Party Committees to officially enter the General Offensive and Uprising in the province with the motto "commune liberates commune, district liberates district, province liberates province".

In Kien Tuong, Battalion 504, which was attached to the Kinh Quan target, was ordered to follow the Bac Hoa route to attack the provincial capital of Moc Hoa. The movement of frontline laborers, ammunition carriers, wounded carriers, and military agitators reached an unprecedented high in all districts, especially Duc Hoa, Duc Hue, Can Giuoc, Can Duoc, etc.

On the morning of April 26, our army began to attack Division 25, which was entrenched in Ben Luc and Tan An town. The enemy fought back fiercely until the afternoon, but then they began to retreat and flee in panic. A part of Long An armed forces coordinated with the superior forces to enter Saigon to participate in the capture of District 8, Route 5, the General Police Department, Nha Rong Port, etc.

On April 28, 1975, the 3rd Division of the 232nd Corps attacked and liberated Hau Nghia sub-region, then completely liberated Duc Hoa and the southern districts. On the night of April 29, 1975, we blocked and attacked the 4th Armored Cavalry Brigade stationed in Moc Hoa. At noon on April 30, 1975 in Long An province and on the morning of May 1, 1975 in Kien Tuong province, our army and people, through the General Offensive and Uprising, forced the entire enemy government to surrender unconditionally.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Long An was a strategic area for both us and the enemy. Considered an extremely fierce battlefield, there was a fierce struggle between the two sides. But with the spirit of dynamism, creativity, intelligence, and courage, the army and people of Long An created a new position and strength, creating the tradition of "Bravery and resilience, the whole people fighting the enemy", contributing to the total victory with the South and the whole country.

Entering the era of national development with the whole country

Long An is a land with a strategic position and a long history with a natural terrain adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, a border with Cambodia, a river mouth to the sea, and a vital waterway and road transport system connecting the East and the West of the South. The province has both conditions for industrial and agricultural development.

The people of Long An have a long tradition of patriotism, not afraid of hardship and sacrifice. When the enemy invaded, we were ready to rise up, indomitable, brave, contributing to the whole country's struggle for independence, building and protecting the Fatherland throughout the historical periods of the nation.

After nearly 40 years of implementing the Party's renovation policy and 50 years of liberation, the Party Committee, people and army of Long An have constantly strived to rise up, achieving many important achievements in many fields. That is, eliminating subsidies in the field of distribution and circulation, implementing the Dong Thap Muoi exploitation program, implementing key programs on socio-economics, building new rural areas, applying high technology in the field of agriculture, etc.

While in the upper region of the district, farmers apply high technology in agricultural production, the lower region focuses on industrial development, attracting many companies and enterprises to invest, creating jobs for many local workers. In particular, when Long An International Port comes into operation, it will contribute to promoting the economic development of the Mekong Delta region".

Currently, the province has more than 20,000 registered enterprises (of which more than 13,300 are operating) with a total registered capital of more than 398,900 billion VND. The province is one of the localities with a strong development speed of industrial zones and clusters in the country, promoting the urbanization process, contributing to socio-economic development. The material and spiritual life of the people has been significantly improved. In 2010, the province no longer had poor communes.

According to the Provincial Party Secretary - Nguyen Van Quyet, since the government was handed over to the people, promoting the heroic spirit of the historic April 30th and the tradition of "Bravery and resilience, the whole people fighting the enemy", the Party Committee, the government and the people of Long An have overcome thousands of difficulties and challenges, striving to achieve glorious achievements in government building, quickly healing the wounds of war, stabilizing life, both fighting to protect the border and fulfilling international obligations to help Cambodia.

Since 1986, the Long An Provincial Party Committee has led all levels, sectors and people of the province to promote production, improve economic structure, develop transportation, build rural areas, urban areas, and new cultural life for all residents, maintain political security, order and social safety. Since then, Long An has developed strongly, rising to lead the Mekong Delta and become a dynamically developing province in the Southern Key Economic Zone, making an increasingly large contribution to the cause of national development and international integration.

The province pays attention to training human resources in the health sector to take care of people's health

The Provincial Party Secretary called on the entire Party Committee, cadres, party members, army and people of the province, and Long An's children who are living, working, studying at home and abroad to promote the strength of great national unity, strive to train revolutionary mettle, uphold self-reliance, creativity, flexibility, devote all efforts, enthusiasm, talent and intelligence, overcome all difficulties and challenges, move forward firmly, and be determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress.

At the same time, with high consensus and a spirit of urgency, "absolutely not to miss the opportunity", the whole province is determined to deploy and successfully carry out the revolution in arranging and streamlining the apparatus of the political system. Especially the merger of Long An and Tay Ninh provinces into a new province, opening up a larger space and room for stronger development.
