The risk of environmental pollution from waste
On many roads, garbage bags filled to the brim, overflowing from containers on the roadside, are no longer uncommon. Some people still blatantly throw garbage in residential areas or along traffic routes. Although environmental protection propaganda has been widely deployed, a number of people still litter in public places.
According to Mr. Phan Dinh Thu (Ninh Thuan quarter, Ninh Thanh ward), on the streets of Ninh Thanh ward, there are many places where people bring garbage to throw away at night, affecting the environment, especially at Bau Cop point and Ong Ta temple on Provincial Road 781, the section of San Cu quarter adjacent to Ninh Hiep quarter, etc.
"When the sun rises, these piles give off a foul smell. I hope the local government will install cameras to monitor and fine people and at the same time strictly handle those who are careless and throw garbage in the wrong place," Mr. Thu said.
In addition to the situation of littering household waste by some people, the collection and treatment of waste is also slow and not on schedule, leading to garbage accumulation.

Garbage dumped on the roadside, causing environmental pollution
Mr. Mai Thanh Hai (Ninh Hiep quarter, Ninh Thanh ward) said, “The collection of household waste has recently been more punctual. However, currently, the garbage is piled up for 3-5 days, so it is very smelly. We hope the company will increase the frequency of collection more often so that the garbage does not pile up for too long, affecting the living environment of the people.”
The situation of garbage everywhere has the potential to pollute the land, water, and air, directly affecting the quality of life of households in the area. In Ninh Thanh ward, immediately after receiving opinions from residents about a number of locations where household waste is often dumped in violation of regulations, the local government has implemented many drastic solutions to correct violations and raise public awareness.
Mr. Nguyen Truong Uy Vu, Head of the Urban Infrastructure Economic Department of Ninh Thanh Ward, said, "In the near future, the ward will develop a digital transformation project, in which a number of scientific and technical solutions will be applied, such as installing cameras to monitor locations where littering is often carried out and handling violations of littering regulations. At the same time, the ward requires units to collect garbage on time."

Waste collection workers
Currently, the province is implementing many solutions, from completing infrastructure, improving the quality of collection and treatment work to propagating changes in behavior and awareness of the community. In particular, people's awareness plays a decisive role in solving the waste problem. Therefore, the province focuses on communication in many forms: loudspeakers, billboards, social networks, leaflets, and direct propaganda in residential areas. Messages about limiting plastic waste, avoiding littering, sorting waste at source, etc. are regularly conveyed.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (Hamlet 2, Loc Ninh Commune) shared, “In the past, people threw trash wherever they came across, so the roads were messy. Since the locality started building new rural areas, the commune has stepped up propaganda, encouraged people to register for waste collection and instructed them to throw trash in the right place so that workers could collect it and bring it to the cooperative for processing. Since then, people are now aware and put their trash in bins, contributing to keeping the environment clean.”
In addition, immediately after the 2-level local government model came into operation on July 1, 2025, the task of managing, collecting, and treating household waste was assigned to communes and wards. Most localities in the province have proactively signed contracts with units to collect and treat household waste according to regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of Loc Ninh Commune People's Committee, informed, "The Commune People's Committee has directed the Economic Department to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Thanh Long Trading Company Limited and Tay Ninh Environment Joint Stock Company to sign a waste treatment contract. By August 25, 2025, the two sides had coordinated to sign a waste treatment contract. Currently, the management and collection of waste in the area by these units are well-implemented, ensuring that the amount of waste from households as well as in the market does not accumulate and cause pollution."
In addition, organizations such as the Women's Union, Youth Union, Veterans Association, etc., organize environmental sanitation activities, collect garbage; organize waste recycling competitions, implement the model of exchanging plastic waste for gifts, and contribute to creating positive changes in waste classification at the source.
The amount of solid waste generated is increasing, causing environmental pollution, loss of resources, waste of land resources, and increasing waste treatment costs for both the State and the people. Therefore, proper classification and treatment of household waste plays an important role in waste management, contributing to minimizing the risk of spreading pathogens, toxic and dangerous factors, affecting the living environment./.
