10 tamarind trees in Rach Nui Pagoda recognized Heritage Trees of Vietnam

“The Vietnam Heritage Tree Council has recognized 10 tamarind trees (Tamarindus indica L.) in the campus of Rach Nui pagoda (Tay Hamlet, Dong Thanh commune, Can Giuoc District, Long An province) as Heritage Trees of Vietnam”, President of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, which is in charge of the tree recognition, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh said.

Accordingly, Long An has two must-see destinations including Dieu Quang pagoda in Khanh Hau ward, Tan An city with the sterculia tree and Rach Nui pagoda with 10 tamarind trees, certificated as heritage trees of Vietnam in 2016 and 2017.

Earlier, Rach Nui pagoda in the province was also recognized as National historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Decision No. 38/1999-QĐ-BVHTT in June 11, 1999.

The recognition of heritage trees helps Long An develop tourism sector as HCMC has had plan to connect and develop tourism products in the Mekong Delta region, including waterway tourism.

As plan, the city has added destinations such as Ton Thanh Pagoda, Rach Nui Pagoda (Can Giuoc district); the Hundred pillar house, Rach Cat cordon (Can Duoc district)…in tour of Can Giuoc, Rach Nui and Soai Rap river./.
