February CPI increases 0.39% in Long An

Compared to the previous month, consumer price index (CPI) in February 2019 in Long An increased by 0.39%, in which goods increased by 0.59% and services went up by 0.08%.

CPI in the group of food and catering services took the lead, standing at 0.9%

In the group of goods, food rose by 0.89% and non-food products increased by 0.27%.

8 out of 11 key groups of goods & services rose in comparison with last month.  To be more particular, CPI in the group of food and catering services took the lead, standing at 0.9%. This is similar to that of culture, entertainment and tourism as well as electricity appliances and household ones, which increased by 0.43% and 0.25% respectively.

Besides, there was a rise in the figures for other goods and services (0.23%), housing, electricity, fuel and construction materials (0.2%), traffic (0.16%), garments, hats and shoes (0.04%) as well as education (0.01%).

While the figures for the group of drinks and cigarettes decreased by 0.66%, those for medicine and health care services remained unchanged.

 The growth of CPI in February is also attributed to high food prices during the Lunar New Year, fresh flower prices in the full moon days, Valentine's Day, and gas prices depending on the world market prices.

The average CPI in the first 2 months of 2019 increased by 2.99% compared to the same period in 2018. CPI in February 2019 went up by 0.38% compared to December of 2018 and increased by 2.79% over the same period in 2018./.
