Diversify goods and agricultural products to serve the Tet market

The New Year and Lunar New Year of the snake 2025 are approaching, and people's shopping needs are increasing. Therefore, cooperatives, businesses, agricultural production households, and craft villages are actively preparing goods and agricultural products to serve the market.

Tet specialties in season

From the past to the present, traditional cakes and jams are indispensable during Tet. At this time, many establishments and craft villages are in season, busy producing goods to supply the market.

These days, sweets and jams making establishments in Long An province are bustling, everyone is busy making batches of quality, delicious products to serve Tet holidays.

At Van Long business household (Binh Trinh Dong commune, Tan Tru district), workers are busy. Some are weighing flour, some are pouring molds, some are packing. The smell of flour, malt, peanuts, ginger, etc is fragrant.

According to the owner of Van Long business household - Duong Thi Anh Tho, she has started producing Tet goods since August (lunar calendar).Van Long's main products are ginger jam and various types of cakes. Currently in peak season, she has increased the number of workers for production. This year, Van Long produced about 5 tons of ginger jam and used about 10 tons of flour to make cakes of all kinds according to orders.

"Van Long snowflake cake products have been recognized by Tan Tru district People's Committee as 3-star OCOP products since July 2024. This is a testament to the quality of our products. At the same time, through the development of OCOP products, we are supported to improve designs and packaging. In addition, the products are also available on many e-commerce platforms for convenient consumption connections" - Ms. Tho added. Thanks to the focus on maintaining quality, Van Long's cakes and jams are selling well.

In addition to cakes and jams, products such as spring rolls and Chinese sausages are also indispensable delicacies during Tet.

Director of Kim Ngoc Food Spring Roll Company Limited (Nhon Thanh Trung commune, Tan An city) - Le Ca Bin said: The company currently has 8 3-star OCOP products including: 2 types of pork spring rolls, 2 types of shrimp spring rolls, 2 types of vegetarian spring rolls, seafood spring rolls with cheese and fresh sausage. The company has put into operation a closed production line, from the stage of selecting input materials, processing to packaging and transportation.

On normal days, the company only produces about 30,000 boxes of spring rolls per month. However, on these days, it must increase production 2-3 times to meet all orders from customers in and outside the province. Therefore, the company has to hire more workers and work overtime continuously.

Cakes, jams, spring rolls, sausages, etc are dishes with a strong Tet flavor. Production facilities are making every effort to improve product quality, appearance, especially ensuring hygiene and food safety.

Taking care of flowers, vegetables to serve the market

At this time, flower and ornamental plant growers in the province are busy taking care of each basket and pot so that they can branch, sprout, and bloom in time for the Lunar New Year of the snake 2025.

According to many flower growers, this year, the weather is not favorable, so taking care of flowers is more difficult. Due to the unstable market of the Lunar New Year 2024, many people are worried about this crop.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh (Long Hoa commune, Can Duoc district) said that after harvesting the vegetable crop, he bought flower pots and seeds to plant to serve the needs of the people.

If you want the flowers to bloom beautifully, in addition to the seeds and care, choosing the right soil for planting is also very important. The soil for planting flowers must be clean, mixed and composted carefully from the beginning of the year with fungicides and manure to create nutrients.

“Last year, the flower business was not favorable, I was worried that the market this year would also be unstable, so I only planted about 1,000 pots of chrysanthemums,” Mr. Binh added.

Many flower growers said that this year, although the economic situation has recovered, many flower growers still do not dare to plant as much as in previous years. The main reason is fear of unsold products, having to dump or transport flowers and ornamental plants back to the garden.

These days, at Phuoc Hoa Safe Vegetable Cooperative (Phuoc Van commune, Can Duoc district), the working and production atmosphere is bustling. Cooperative members are busy producing vegetables to serve the Tet market.

Director of Phuoc Hoa Safe Vegetable Cooperative - Kieu Anh Dung affirmed: "Currently, the cooperative's vegetable growing area has increased by about 30% compared to normal days, mainly focusing on growing vegetables such as green onions, herbs, lettuce, etc. These are vegetables that are in high demand during the Lunar New Year. It is expected that the prices of vegetables will increase by about 20-30% compared to normal".

Through this trade cooperation program, when there is an unusual increase in local commodity market prices in the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City, the local Department of Industry and Trade is responsible for notifying the provinces and cities so that their Departments of Industry and Trade can mobilize businesses to supply goods to support market stabilization.
