Training on building dragon fruit growing areas meeting European export standards

Attending the training course were technical staff, enterprises, cooperatives, dragon fruit production and trading establishments in the province. At the training course, the delegates were informed by staffs of the Plant Protection Department about the European regulations for dragon fruit import from Vietnam; regulations on planting area codes and exporting dragon fruit packing facilities; technical process applied on dragon fruit to meet export standards to Europe;etc.

Currently, EU requires Vietnam to check pesticide residues for 100% of dragon fruit exported to Europe. Along with that, exporters must ensure that pesticide residues do not exceed the allowable level, etc.

Through the training, dragon fruit exporting enterprises, cooperatives, production and trading establishments in the province will know the types of pests subject to European plant quarantine when importing. At the same time, producers and traders can minimize post-harvest losses, ensure quality and food safety, and meet the requirements of European import markets./.
