Long An attends Vietnam Investment Environment Forum in Kanagawa

The delegation of Long An province led by Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa and leaders of some departments, sectors and businesses in the province attended the Vietnam Investment Environment Forum in Kanagawa province, Japan.

Vietnam Investment Environment Forum is an activity during the Vietnam Festival in Kanagawa (September 06 - September 8) held annually by Government of Kanagawa province, Japan to promote exchanges in economy, culture, sports, tourism, and so on between businesses and people of Kanagawa province with the government, businesses and people of Vietnam.

Every year, the event in Kanagawa welcomes more than 300,000 Japanese visitors to the Festival. This year, besides Long An province, the event also had the participation of delegations from localities of Vietnam such as Hung Yen, Ha Nam and Thai Binh.

Speaking at the Vietnam Investment Environment Forum, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa introduced an overview of the province's socio-economic situation on the strengths to attract investment, especially the investment situation of Japanese enterprises.

Accordingly, the province's economic growth in the last 3 years from 2016 to 2018 reached an average of 9.65 percent, the economic structure shifted towards increasing the proportion of industry and services, reducing the proportion of agriculture. Currently, there are 144 Japanese enterprises investing in the region with the capital of about 509 million USD, the main investment fields of Japanese enterprises are plywood production, agricultural product processing, assembly electronic production, garment processing, mechanical processing, etc.

On the sidelines of the forum, the delegation of Long An province also paid a courtesy visit to Governor of Kanagawa province - Yuji Kuroiwa. At the meeting, Mr. Yuji Kuroiwa said that Long An is a potential investment destination for Kanagawa businesses. In the coming time, he would like Long An province to continue cooperating with Kanagawa province to promote bringing Kanagawa enterprises to invest in Long An as well as supporting projects of Kanagawa enterprises that have been operating in the locality.

Mr. Pham Tan Hoa thanked the Governor for organizing the event and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese localities to meet the Japanese business community in Kanagawa province and pledged that Long An province will support them fully for Kanagawa businesses investing in Long An.

The delegation of Long An province also worked with the labor promotion agency of Ibaraki province, Japan on promoting labor cooperation between the two localities. Accordingly, in the coming time, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An province will coordinate with the Foreign Labor Promotion Center of Ibaraki Province to unify the specific cooperation contents between the two localities for "Technical Intern Trainee Program”and “Labor with special skills”.

At the same time, San Ha Co., Ltd - a business with a delegation and signed a cooperation agreement worth 6 million USD with Ebisu Company. Ebisu is an agricultural company specializing in breeding and Chicken farms - moving into meat processing and restaurants located in Miyazaki province, southern Japan.

Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly invest in a local factory to cooperate in the development of breeding - farms in Vietnam and Long An will be the locality in which this cooperation agreement is implemented.

On September 7, the delegation of Long An province set out to return home, ending the visit, working and promoting investment in Japan./.
