
International Conference on Saemaul Undong in Korea
In addition to the 2 plenary sessions, the conference also had 4 discussion sessions based on the topic of geographical areas, especially issues related to Asia and Africa, with policies for rural development and sustainable development. The representative of the delegation of Long An province, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee - Dinh Ngoc Lam was a reviewer for an article from a researcher from Bangladesh with the topic “Sustainability of livelihoods through community development projects - A case study in rural of Bangladesh". At the same time, he introduced the results of new rural building and creative methods in propagating and building new rural areas.
The conference focused on exchanging experiences in planning, implementing and monitoring policies on rural development, hunger eradication, poverty reduction and sustainable development from the successful experience of the New Village movement initiated more than 4 decades ago in Korea. The main topics of discussion consisted of the role of leadership and governance, poverty and food security, clean water and population, climate change and natural resource management, equitable development and transparency management, gender equality and citizen consciousness, education and lifelong learning, etc.
The conference was a useful opportunity for leaders, managers, policymakers and executors, scientists to share practical knowledge and experience on rural policies, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, ensure food security, social justice and sustainable development./.
