Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment - Tran Van Tuoi informed that in 2024, the socio-economic situation of the province had a clear and positive recovery, basically achieving the general goals set out with many important results in all fields.
In particular, Long An is expected to achieve and exceed 21/21 main targets according to the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council. Economic growth gradually recovered with the GRDP growth rate reaching about 8.3%; especially the third quarter reaching 10.82%, the fourth quarter reaching 11.26%. With the growth rate in 2024, Long An ranks 3rd in the Mekong Delta.

The economic structure continues to be maintained in the direction of industrialization and modernization with the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector accounting for 15.82% of GRDP; the industry and construction sector accounting for 52.08%; the service sector accounting for 26.4%; product taxes minus product subsidies accounting for 5.7%. Economic growth also helps improve people's lives with the province's average GRDP per capita reaching 107.3 million VND/year; an increase of 10.7 million VND compared to 2023.
In particular, industrial production - construction developed strongly with a year-on-year growth of 10.95%. The province's key industries grew strongly, such as garment production increased by 47.29%, paper products increased by 24.26%, electrical equipment increased by 19.68%, prefabricated metal products increased by 18.8%, chemicals and chemical products increased by 15.99%, etc.

"The biggest milestone is the solutions to improve the Provincial Competitiveness Index, helping Long An rise to the second position in the country, creating confidence for businesses to invest in the province" - Tran Van Tuoi affirmed.
To date, the province has 2,250 domestic investment projects with a registered capital of 474,578 billion VND. In particular, Long An is the leading locality in the Mekong Delta region in attracting foreign investment with 1,377 projects, registered investment capital of approximately 12.6 billion USD; of which 635 projects are in operation, with a total investment capital of over 4.2 billion USD.
Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment - Tran Van Tuoi also said that the province is focusing on mobilizing all resources to build a transportation system with many large projects, with regional connectivity such as Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 of Ho Chi Minh City, key projects, projects under the province's breakthrough program, etc. They will open up new development opportunities for the province in 2025 as well as the coming years.
In addition, the fields of culture, society, security and defense also recorded positive results, contributing to a successful year with many imprints in the province's socio-economic development.
