Long An continues to promote Korean investment, towards green economy and sustainable development

This working trip to Korea opens up new opportunities for connection, investment promotion, and affirms Long An's green growth-oriented development potential.

From October 13 to 16, 2024, the Long An provincial delegation led by Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of Provincial People's Council - Nguyen Van Duoc will visit, work, and promote investment in Korea. The delegation included leaders of departments, branches, localities, seaport enterprises, and industrial parks of the province. This trip is part of the series of investment promotion programs in 2024 of Long An province.

The working trip aims to introduce the potential, development orientation, and reaffirm Long An as an ideal destination for Korean enterprises. The province expressed its determination to connect industrial parks with potential investors in many fields, especially high-tech agriculture, innovation, renewable energy, logistics, towards sustainable economic development in Long An.

On the first day in Korea, October 14, the delegation met with former President of Korea - Lee Myung Bak in Seoul. The two sides exchanged information on investment activities of Korean organizations and enterprises in Long An in the past time, and shared the potential and opportunities for future cooperation, promoting investment in Long An province.

Former President Lee Myung-Bak emphasized the importance of applying green and circular economic models. The two sides agreed that sustainable development and environmental protection are important factors in all upcoming cooperation strategies. At the same time, former President Lee Myung-Bak shared some experiences of Korea in developing green infrastructure. He highly appreciated the dynamism of Long An province and encouraged the province to study and apply these experiences into local practices.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Council - Nguyen Van Duoc said that Korea is one of the important strategic partners, playing a major role in the economic development of the province. Accordingly, Long An always strives to create a favorable investment environment, accompanying foreign enterprises, especially Korean enterprises.

He expected that all levels and sectors of the province would continue to make efforts, take advantage of and effectively exploit opportunities from the trend of connecting global supply chains, green development, to maintain traditional markets and partners such as Korea; proactively learn about investment trends of multinational corporations and large enterprises in Korea to approach and connect investment in industries with advantages of the province; promote investment in Long An and achieve good results with the province.

Currently, with the total foreign investment value of more than 12.4 billion USD in Long An, Korea ranks 3rd and has become an important strategic partner of Long An in investment promotion activities, receiving the province's attention in strengthening relations.

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc invited Mr. Lee Myung Bak to attend the 2nd Long An Province Culture, Sports and Tourism Week and the Long An - Korea Exchange Program in 2024, taking place from November 28 to December 4, 2024 in Long An province as a guest of honor. This is an important event, not only promoting the image and culture of Long An province, but also promoting the close and deep connection of the cooperative relationship between Long An and Korea.

The working session with former President - Lee Myung Bak ended with positive results and expectations for strong cooperation between Long An and Korea in the future. According to the working schedule, in the following days, the provincial delegation will participate in working sessions and survey projects of large corporations in Korea in the field of urban infrastructure development, trade, services, energy and logistics.

In addition, Long An is always proactive in approaching large organizations and investors in Korea and other countries with projects suitable for the province's investment attraction orientation, in order to seek and identify opportunities, strengthen cooperative relations, call for investment, and promote economic development of the province in the coming time.

Possessing a strategic location, rapid urbanization, and strong infrastructure development, PCI in 2023 ranked 2nd in Vietnam, holding advantages in industrial, service development and attracting FDI, Long An has become an ideal destination for developing logistics chains. In the trend of developing inter-regional transport infrastructure in the province, Long An International Port is becoming a driving force to promote the formation of a large-scale logistics center in the Mekong Delta right in Long An province./.
