Nguyen Quoc Trinh, Chairman of the Dragon Fruit Association of Long An Province, said that the export of dragon fruits to China by road encountered many difficulties due to the outbreak of the Covid virus – 19.
Facing this situation, Dragon Fruit Association of Long An has actively exported goods to China and some other countries by sea.
"In the past 20 days, the association exports about 100 tons of dragon fruit by sea everyday on everage. In addition, there are many other businesses outside the association also exported by sea", Mr. Trinh said.
Also from many solutions, dragon fruit prices in recent days have increased. As before and after Tet holiday, the price of red dragon fruit traders only buy 5-6 thousand VND per kg, it now has been bought up about 15 thousand VND per kg.
After transporting by sea to China and some countries (via Cat Lai port), traders sell goods directly at the markets or trade centers of the host countries, with prices from 40-42 thousand VND per kg.
However, Mr. Trinh informed that it is still difficult when exporting by sea because there is no ship so the volume exported is less and the shipping time is longer.
"In the context of road transport is clogged by the Covid virus - 19, this is also a good way to" rescue "dragon fruit is currently congested," Mr. Trinh said.
Currently, Long An has more than 12,000 hectares of dragon fruit, of which 10,000 hectares are giving fruits, according to calculations by the Dragon Fruit Association of Long An, Long An has an average of 1,000 tons of dragon fruit per day. In particular, this off-season crop (being lighted on the occasion of the lunar new year), Long An produces about 30,000 tons, etc./.
