Long An: Nearly 1,000 billion VND to serve Covid-19 prevention and control

Eight months of 2021, the province have carried out local political tasks in facing many difficulties and challenges, especially the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an unprecedented fight, with the Delta mutation happening very complicatedly, causing damage to people's health and lives and seriously affecting the socio-economic development of the province.

The province's economic growth rate in the first 6 months of the year reached 6.06 percent, but it showed signs of slowing down in the third quarter of 2021. Up to now, the State budget revenue has reached over 12,500 billion VND, reaching 80 percent of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council, but only reaching 62 percent of the revenue target for 2021 and only increasing by about 10 percent compared to the first 6 months of the year.

In that context, with the timely direction and support of the Central Committee and the provinces and cities, the synchronous participation and high responsibility of the whole political system from the province to the grassroots level, consensus and active participation of the people and business community, the province has implemented many strong, drastic and timely measures in epidemic prevention and control, made efforts to maintain the production and business chain.

Social security policies and support packages for workers and people are taken care of and implemented in a timely manner. National defense, security, social order and safety are maintained. Especially the mobilization of synergy of resources to serve the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control, with the goal of "protecting the people’s health and life first and foremost". To date, the total mobilized resources is about 1,000 billion VND.

At the 2nd session - the regular mid-2021session, the Provincial People's Council called its delegates to continue to mobilize resources to contribute to the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control. In the immediate future, it is necessary to actively participate in the campaign of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council to contribute funds to buy 3,000 medical protective suits to donate to frontline forces against the epidemic in 5 seriously affected localities in the "red zone" of the province including districts of Duc Hoa, Can Giuoc, Can Duoc, Ben Luc and Tan An City (600 suits to each locality)./.
