Girls Opportunity Alliance is a creation of Obama Foundation aiming at supporting adolescent girls around the world. The program gives children the opportunity to realize and pursue their dreams through education, thereby it contributes to their families, communities and countries.

At the same time, the Girls Opportunity Alliance connects global citizens to work together and help educational institutions in each locality - where they understand the challenges that adolescent girls face and can propose the most feasible, long-term and sustainable solutions.

In Vietnam, Girls Opportunity Alliance is working with Room to Read - a non-profit organization to promote gender equality through education. Through life skills classes, counseling and close support from teachers, families and the community, the Education Support Program for girls helps them to finish high school as well as confidently decide their life. Joining in a life skills group, students learn to build and develop perseverance, critical thinking, communication skills, etc. These are important leadership skills so that girls can gain positive results even outside school.

At the meeting with the girls, Michelle Obama was eager to listen to their stories. She said: "I understand that you are studying and working hard to overcome challenges that our peers in our country cannot yet understand. I believe you can overcome challenges because you are receiving support from organizations around the world who are interested in educational investment, and I hope this program will create many success stories from you so that you can be confident to have a voice in the family. You are the inspiration for me to work. I pledge to spend the rest of my life traveling around the world to tell about your own emotional stories. I would like you to focus on your study and work to overcome difficulties and challenges through education”./.
