According to the report of the Provincial Party Committee, grasping the 8th Resolution of the Party Central Committee, term XI on the strategy to protect the Fatherland in the new situation, the Provincial Party Committee issued Program No.36 to be deployed and implemented throughout the political system, armed forces and the entire people, creating high unity in the awareness and actions of all levels of Party committees, organizations and members.

Over the past 10 years, the Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Party committees at all levels and authorities in the province have focused on leading, directing, thoroughly grasping and concretizing the implementation of the Resolution in accordance with the local practical situation. In which, the province clearly and deeply defines the position, role, importance, direction, goals, tasks and solutions to protect the Fatherland in the new situation according to the 8th Resolution of Central Committee in association with the guidelines, orientations and regulations of the Party and State on the tasks of socio-economic development and consolidation of national defense and security.

Since then, there has been a clear change in awareness and vigilance of cadres, party members and people against the "peaceful evolution" plot of hostile forces; the roles and responsibilities of cadres, party members and people in the task of protecting the Fatherland have been raised; the political system from the province to the grassroots has been consolidated and its operations' quality and efficiency has been improved. Military work - local defense is highly forcused on.

At the same time, the implementation of the 8th Central Committee's Resolution contributes to building the all-people defense posture, the people's security posture, the all-people's border defense posture, political security, social order and discipline firmly: maintaining, stabilizing, closely linking economic, cultural and social development with defense and security consolidation to be a solid defensive posture, meeting the requirements and tasks in defending the Fatherland in new situation.

In the period 2011-2020, the province's economic growth rate reached 9.11%, ranking first in the Mekong River Delta, accounting for over 13% of the region's total GRDP. Particularly in 2022, the growth rate was 8.46%; In terms of scale, the economy ranked 12th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, and ranked first in the Mekong River Delta. Annual budget revenue exceeded the estimate, with an average annual growth of over 12%, thereby creating conditions for increasing investment in defense, contributing to the successful implementation of national defense and security tasks in the provincial defense area.

Besides the achieved results, the combination of socio-economic development associated with national defense and security consolidation still meet some drawbacks, the life of some people is still difficult. The work of grasping, forecasting and handling situations is sometimes not proactive,etc.

At the conference, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front - Do Van Chien acknowledged, praised and congratulated the important results achieved by the Party Committee, government and people of Long An province in the past 10 years implementing the 8th Resolution of the Central Committee, term XI.

Recalling the lesson of "a small spark can burn a whole forest", he suggested that the province should deeply grasp the policy of socio-economic development, in which Party building is the key task; developing culture is the spiritual foundation; ensuring national defense and security is vital and regular.

He also suggested to continue to deeply grasp and effectively implement the Resolutions of the 4th Central Committee, term XI, XII, and XIII on building and rectifying the Party, building a truly clean and strong Party Committee, fighting against degradation in ideology, politics, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution", "self-transformation". "Building a clean and strong Party Committee is a prerequisite for us to ensure the successful implementation of two strategic tasks of national construction and defense in the new situation," Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front – Do Van Chien emphasized at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Nguyen Van Dua suggested that all levels and branches should continue to thoroughly grasp, seriously and effectively implement the core and central content of the 8th Resolution of Central Committee, Action Plan of the Provincial Party Committee on "Strategy to protect the Fatherland in the new situation"; pay attention to consolidating, supplementing and completing projects, master plans and plans to ensure security and defense in the province; strongly promote the synergy of the whole political system, well implement the objectives and tasks of national defense and security set out in Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented certificates of merit to 15 collectives and 31 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the 8th Resolution of the Central Committee, term XI./.
