Sharing techniques for efficient production together

Farmers in Long An province often exchange and share agricultural production techniques as well as transfer scientific and technical advances with Cambodian farmers to produce more efficiently.

Production instructions

In the first years after liberation, Long An province mobilized more than 10,000 people to help the people of Svay Rieng and some other provinces of Cambodia to fight the enemy and build comprehensively. Nowadays, in agricultural production, farmers in the two countries still regularly support each other.

Cambodian farmers apply technological advances in agricultural production, gradually bringing high efficiency

According to the Head of Division of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Hung district - To Van Chanh, Cambodian agriculture was mainly dependent on the weather. Cambodian farmers produced according to their habits and practices, so the productivity and quality of agricultural products were quite low, self-sufficient and unable to compete in the market. Recently, through training courses on technology transfer and the exchange of farmers on both sides of the border, many useful and technical agricultural information has been applied by Cambodian farmers to improve farming and product quality.

Vice Chairman of Tuyen Binh commune People's Committee, Vinh Hung district - Huynh Van Be said: “The commune has more than 100 hectares of agricultural land along the border. Local farmers and Cambodian farmers regularly exchange and share agricultural production experiences, grasp the need for expanding production and consumption markets, promote opportunities for cooperation in agricultural production, introduce scientific - technological achievements and promote production in the direction of high technology application.”

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky (Tuyen Binh commune, Vinh Hung district) said: “I cultivate more than 10 hectares of land that borders Cambodia. In addition, I rent 5 hectares of agricultural land to grow rice in ThMay commune (Cambodia). Every crop, I and the Cambodian farmers exchange production techniques. I also instructed them soil improvement, row-seeding method, the process of "3 decreases, 3 increases" and "1 must, 5 decreases" and fertilizer use. As a result, in recent years, productivity has increased significantly.”

Doubling productivity

According to Chairman of Hung Dien commune People's Committee, Tan Hung district - Truong Dong Ho, Cambodian farmers are still limited in agricultural production techniques while the potential for agricultural development is huge. To help them produce under new methods, the best way is specific instruction from the basics. Specifically, it is necessary to show them that the achievement of applying science and technology is the increase of rice productivity. From there, they applied new farming techniques, row-seeding method, pest control, scientific fertilizing procedures and techniques. In many years, farmers of the two countries regularly exchange and apply science and technology into production, so the production efficiency is increasingly improved.

Ms. Bui Thi Hue is guilding Cambodian farmers how to use pesticides effectively

Mr. Phat Chang (Cham commune, Kampong Trabaek district) is happy because rice cultivation is more effective than expected. In the past, the productivity of 3-4 tons per hectare was considered a good harvest. However, in recent years, Vietnamese farmers have come to guide the application of scientific and technical advances, so the productivity has increased significantly. In the Winter - Spring crop of the previous year, the productivity reached nearly 7 tons per hectare, doubling compared to the previous crops.

Similarly, according to Mr. Sok Cham (Thmay commune, Kampong Ro district), his 4 hectares of land has never been as efficient as it is now. Thanks to the guidance of Vietnamese farmers, the productivity reaches nearly 7 tons per hectare. He said: “I have learned a lot of useful knowledge from the instructions of the farmers, pesticide agents in Vinh Hung and Tan Hung districts. I regularly use fertilizers in accordance with the instructions so that the rice plants grow well. In this crop, the productivity will certainly reach as high as the previous ones.”

According to Ms. Bui Thi Hue - owner of Ngoc Dung fertilizer agent (Hung Dien commune, Tan Hung district), for more than 20 years, she has sold fertilizer and instructed many Cambodian farmers. She shared: “Agricultural land in Cambodia is barren, irrigation system is not guaranteed so rice productivity is low. On average, each year, the profit of 10 million VND per hectare is a pleasure for the Cambodian farmers. Since being instructed in effective methods of cultivation and using fertilizers, in recent years, the productivity has increased. Now, on average, they produce 2 crops per year; the profit reach over 20 million VND per hectare when the rice has a good price.”

The agricultural production of Cambodian farmers is becoming more and more favorable and effective thanks to the sharing and guidance of Vietnamese farmers./.
