After harvesting, the Sophora japonica buds were carefully screened and selected by Mr. Nguyen Van Lu (Binh Hoa Hamlet, Binh Tinh Commune, Tan Tru District) before being packaged
To have a spacious house like today, the couple spent a lot of effort. When the country was still in difficulty, his family was also poor, farming was just enough to make ends meet.
After getting married, the birth of 5 children was the motivation for the couple to strive. On the family's land, the couple worked hard to plow and earn money to raise their children, sometimes having to borrow for every meal.
Mr. Lu thought: "I have to do something different from others to change their lives, so that my children can be better off in the future". So he started growing watermelons. In the whole rice field, only his field grew watermelons. Out of 10 people in the area, 8 were afraid when they saw him taking such a risk.
That year's watermelon season, he harvested 20 tons, sold at a good price so the profit was high. He grows many types of vegetables such as bean vermicelli, bitter melon, okra, water spinach, and raises chickens and ducks, up to thousands at peak times. Thanks to his daring and saving, he and his wife were able to build a spacious house. When the dragon fruit growing movement in the locality flourished, he also responded, but over time, the price was low, so he had to stop. Normally, when switching crops, farmers tend to replant familiar plants. But Mr. Lu was different, he chose Sophora japonica, a completely new species in the locality. He did not experiment but planted 8,000m2. "This time, the local people reacted even more strongly, they called me crazy" - Mr. Lu said.
The Sophora japonica tree is an easy-to-grow herbal plant that grows widely in the Central and Northern regions. Sophora japonica flowers have the effect of lowering blood pressure, stopping bleeding, strengthening blood vessels, preventing strokes, etc. When planted in the South, Mr. Lu noticed that the tree bloomed all year round without a hibernation period, thanks to which the yield was steady. Thanks to reading many books and learning more online, he understood the uses, planting and care techniques.
At first, it was quite difficult, the tree was bitten by snails. To destroy it, he bought coconut husks and mixed the chemicals and spread them all over the field. Not to mention the trees were attacked by fungi and locusts.
Gradually, he overcame all the difficulties, after 6-8 months, the tree yielded a harvest. On average, he picked about 20kg of fresh flower buds every day. The Sophora japonica buds were dried in the sun after being picked. then screen to select quality buds. He also invested in an electric dryer to serve production and packaging of products.
Mr. Lu shared: “This type of crop has the disadvantage of not blooming uniformly, so the yield is sometimes low. The advantage is that the price is relatively good and it is guaranteed to be clean and safe because I mainly use organic fertilizers and biological pesticides”.

Mr. Lu said that his current success is partly thanks to his wife who is always there to encourage, share, and accompany him. He wants to spread this gift of health to everyone, every family, contributing a small part to building the locality. His children are now grown up and successful, wanting their parents to retire, but he feels a day would be longer without work./.
