Swimmer Vo Thi My Tien breaks 2 national records

On March 13, Director of Long An Sports Training and Competition Center - Nguyen Bao Hoan said that Long An Swimming Team is competing very successfully at the National Swimming Championship 25m pool taking place in Hue City.

Participating in this year's swimming tournament, Long An Swimming Team has 5 athletes: My Tien, Hong Gam, Hong Cam, Thien Kim, Kha Han and 2 coaches. Among them, the most prominent is Vietnam's number 1 female swimmer - Vo Thi My Tien. She is also the biggest hope of Long An swimming at this tournament.

Swimmer My Tien excellently broke 2 national records at the National Swimming Championship 25m pool taking place in Hue City

According to Mr. Hoan, with careful preparation and stable performance, swimmer My Tien has competed brilliantly in the past 3 days. Accordingly, on the first day of competition, My Tien won the Silver Medal in the 50m breaststroke, the relay team including My Tien, Thien Kim, Hong Cam and Hong Gam won the Bronze Medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay.

On the second day of competition, My Tien excellently won 2 individual Gold Medals including the 100m individual medley and 800m freestyle. In which, My Tien broke the national record for the women's 100m individual medley with a time of 1 minute 02 seconds 07, surpassing the old record of Anh Vien of 1 minute 02 seconds 47 set 12 years ago, in July 2013.

At the same time, the relay team including My Tien, Hong Gam, Hong Cam and Thien Kim won the Bronze Medal in the 4x100m medley relay. Continuing the success, on the 3rd competition day (March 13), My Tien continued to be the leader of the Long An Swimming Team when she excellently won 2 individual gold medals in the 100m breaststroke and 400m freestyle. In which, My Tien broke the second record of this year's tournament in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1 minute 08 seconds 66, surpassing the 8-year old record of 1 minute 09 seconds 19 set by athlete Ngo Thi Ngoc Quynh in March 2017.

In addition, athletes: My Tien, Hong Gam, Hong Cam and Kha Han also won bronze medals in the 4x200m freestyle relay for women.

"After 3 days of competition, the Long An Swimming Team won 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals, ranking among the top units participating in this year's tournament. In the coming competition days, the Long An Swimming Team will continue to compete with the highest determination to win more medals at this year's tournament" - Mr. Nguyen Bao Hoan affirmed.

The 25m National Swimming Championship is the first tournament taking place in 2025 under the competition system of the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association.

This year's tournament has the participation of more than 250 athletes from units and localities across the country such as An Giang, Ben Tre, Can Tho, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Long An, Phu Tho, Vietnam People Army, Quang Binh, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long, Hue, Binh Thuan, Hai Duong, Nghe An, Thai Binh, etc.

This is an annual tournament to evaluate the training of athletes in localities and sectors to focus on investing and training national team athletes to participate in regional and international tournaments./.
