Mass sports attract a large number of people
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in recent years, the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" has continued to expand, attracting the participation of a large number of people, contributing to improving health and building a healthy cultural life at the grassroots level.
In particular, physical education and sports activities of the elderly and young people have received more attention; physical education and sports activities in the armed forces, civil servants, public employees and students have been maintained and developed strongly; all levels and sectors have mobilized social resources to organize local sports competitions.
In 2024, the province organized 300 sports tournaments and 90 sports talent training classes. Of which, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized 16 provincial-level sports tournaments with the participation of more than 4,000 athletes. Many tournaments were organized on a large scale across the province, such as age-group athletics tournaments, age-group swimming tournaments, or provincial junior high and high school volleyball tournaments.
These tournaments not only aimed at developing the mass sports movement but also helping young athletes have the opportunity to compete and practice. At the same time, through age-group tournaments, schools also contribute to helping provincial sports discover talented and potential athletes to supplement the province's talent lines.
In particular, in the past 2 years, the province's mass sports have made a strong impression when successfully organizing the Dinghy Boat Race, contributing to preserving the cultural identity of the Southwest, the beauty of the river region, thereby promoting the image of Long An land and people, gradually developing sports tourism.

Although she participated in the competition at the age of 17 and had just started training recently, Nhi Yen competed very well, winning a gold medal in the women's 100m and a silver medal in the women's 200m. Less than a year later, at the 2023 National Athletics Championship held in Mieu Mon, Hanoi, Nhi Yen also excellently won 2 gold medals in the women's 100m and 200m events.
