The Central Covid-19 Resuscitation Center completed nearly 80-day journey to fight against epidemic in Long An

Starting from the end of May and top epidemic from August 2021 with the number of Covid-19 cases continuously increasing, the whole political system and the entire Long An people worked very hard, trying to "fight" against the epidemic. Together with the delegations from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Defense and other provinces, 158 doctors and nurses, Thai Nguyen left their families and beloved people, they moved thousands of kilometers to support Long An to fight against the epidemic with the spirit of "All for the sake of the Southern people”.

After only 10 days of construction, on August 15, the Covid-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under Thai Nguyen Central Hospital (Central Covid-19 Resuscitation Center) in Long An province officially went into operation, was ready to receive Covid-19 patients for treatment.

The center is located at 139 Nguyen Thai Binh, Ward 3, Tan An City, with a scale of 150 beds, is the last line in the treatment ladder for Covid-19 patients in Long An province and neighboring provinces; has the function of organizing the collection, emergency and treatment of severe and critical Covid-19 patients; providing professional guidance and technical support in emergency, active resuscitation and treatment for facilities that collect, treat and care for Covid-19 patients.

The operation of the Resuscitation Center for Covid-19 patients is an important milestone in the fight against epidemics of Long An province.

Master, Doctor Dinh Huu Bach - Head of General Department, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital shared that a skilled experienced staff of doctors and nurses helped the ICU deploy the highest techniques in the resuscitation specialty such as ECMO, continuous dialysis, adsorbent dialysis, so on in an effort to save the lives of severe and critical Covid-10 patients.

In particular, in the cases of critically ill patients who were fortunate to escape the scythe of death, there were 2 pregnant women who also experienced miraculous recovery after being dedicated to treatment. This is the great happiness, pride and motivation of the medical staff of nurses and doctors of the center.

Over the past 2 months, the Central Covid-19 Resuscitation Center has received and treated nearly 300 severe Covid-19 patients and has nearly 200 recovered and left the hospital. Exchanging for the smile and life for the patient, the medical staff of nurses and doctors are ready to dedicate and make selfless efforts.

While on duty in Long An, not only were they far from their families and children, some people also had to say goodbye to their parents from afar when they could not return home to mourn. It was a great but very silent sacrifice of the "white-shirt soldiers" on the frontlines against the epidemic.

At the Gratitude Ceremony, Vice Chairman of Long An People's Committee – Pham Tan Hoa expressed deep gratitude to the staff, nurses, doctors and volunteers at the Central Covid-19 Resuscitation Center in Long An for always dedicated, sacrificed, regardless of day and night, all for the people’s health.

These are very important contributions to Long An in the fight against the epidemic, significantly reducing the death rate from Covid-19 in the province, helping Long An overcome the most difficult time, step by step well control the epidemic like the present.

Up to now, the Covid-19 epidemic situation in Long An has been basically controlled, the whole province has entered a new normal state. Medical staff at the Center also fulfilled their mission, returning to work at home. The province recognized the efforts and dedication of medical staff and volunteers to Long An's anti-epidemic work, at the Gratitude Ceremony, 2 collectives and 196 individuals also received certificates of merit from the Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee. 

After nearly 80 days accompanying Long An to fight the epidemic and treat severe and critical Covid-19 patients, the Central Covid-19 Resuscitation Center has officially completed the task. The Thai Nguyen white-coat soldiers when returning homeland was probably not only the affection of the authorities and people of Long An, but also the belief and pride in having contributed a part to helping the beloved Southern people to repel the pandemic step by step./.
