The new era of rise: A journey for rising communes (Part 10)

From July 1, 2025, Long An, in line with national reforms, officially embarks on a new phase of development: comprehensive, strong, and full of expectations. Instead of the traditional 3-level management model, Long An province will manage 60 new commune-level administrative. This is not merely an administrative boundary adjustment but a strategic reform aimed at building a modern, streamlined, effective, and efficient governance framework, opening up fresh space for growth. The removal of the district level shortens decision-making processes, enhances administrative efficiency, and brings provincial policies closer to the people. At the same time, commune-level units will be empowered to foster innovation and adaptability in socio-economic development. From June 5, 2025, Long An Newspaper and Radio-Television Station will launch a new column, entitled “The Era of Rise,” on page 4, profiling all 60 newly established commune-level units resulting from mergers and consolidations. This series aims to provide readers with a comprehensive and in-depth look into the land and people of Long An.

Carrying forward a rich cultural legacy while embracing dynamic and modern growth, the communes of Duc Hoa, Duc Lap, Hau Nghia, and Hiep Hoa are entering a new journey with renewed confidence. Their development, like the flow of the Vam Co Dong river that runs along their banks, promises to be continuous and full of life.

Duc Hoa commune is a newly formed administrative unit, established from the merger of Duc Hoa town, Duc Hoa Ha commune, and Huu Thanh commune. With a large natural area of 63.31 km² and a population nearing 50,000, Đức Hòa embodies a vibrant stream of life, inheriting the economic, cultural and social essence of its predecessors.

This merger not only expands the development space but also creates a unified entity with a shared vision for prosperity. Its strategic location in Đức Hòa Town—with well-connected transport infrastructure—serves as a launchpad for regional connectivity and sustainable, inclusive growth.

The commune’s development strategy is focused on driving industrial growth while fully tapping into its potential for high-tech agriculture and riverside ecotourism along the Vam Co Dong river. Modern industrial zones are taking shape, attracting investment and generating thousands of jobs for both locals and surrounding areas, fuelling economic growth.

Simultaneously, Duc Hoa continues to preserve and cultivate its lush rice fields and bountiful fruit orchards, applying advanced cultivation techniques to improve productivity and product quality. The gentle Vam  Co Dong river, with its scenic beauty and historical value, plays a key role in the commune’s ecotourism strategy.

Duc Lap commune - Unlocking the potential of tradition and modernity with industry, infrastructure and trade - services

In the steady current of progress, Duc Lap commune emerges as a fresh and vibrant name, brimming with vitality and ambition. Established through the merger of Duc Lap Ha commune, part of Duc Hoa Thuong commune, and My Hanh Bac commune, the new Duc Lap represents a harmonious blend of history, culture, and significant development potential.

With a natural area of 59.41km² and a population of over 31,000, Duc Lap commune has gradually asserted its position, emerging as a bright spot in the local industrialization process. The establishment of this new commune opens up expansive development space, creating favourable conditions for the effective mobilisation of resources—positioning Duc Lap as a new growth pole in the region.

The name “Duc Lap” encapsulates the spirit of self-reliance, unity and the people’s desire to build a more prosperous homeland. Rooted in local history, it has garnered wide public support, reflecting strong ties to tradition and shared belief in a bright, stable future

The commune headquarters is located at the former My hanh Bac site, equipped with modern facilities that meet management needs and serve the community—a clear sign of Duc Lap’s preparedness for the path ahead. Its development strategy rests on a balanced approach combining industry, infrastructure and trade-services.

From its roots in traditional agriculture, Duc lap is transforming into a bustling industrial zone, generating jobs and attracting investment. At the same time, transportation infrastructure and social amenities are being comprehensively upgraded, providing fertile ground for vibrant commercial and service activities—bringing a new, prosperous face to the land.

Hau Nghia commune on the journey of developing infrastructure, trade - services and tourism

Hau Nghia commune was founded in a spirit of unity, potential, and far-reaching aspiration. Formed through the merger of Duc Lap Thuong Commune, Tan My Commune, and Hau Nghia Town, the new Hau Nghia is more than just an administrative unit—it inherits rich traditional values while striving toward sustainable development.

Covering 66.48km² and home to more than 46,000 people, Hau Nghia commune brings together rich cultural heritage and modern economic potential—poised for a dynamic and promising development journey."

The name “Hau Nghia” carries deep historical significance and local pride. Embraced by the people, it serves as a reminder of solidarity, compassion and the collective will to build a flourishing homeland.

The commune headquarters is based at the former Duc Hoa district People’s Committee site, with modern infrastructure that ensures effective governance and community service. This provides a strong foundation for Hau Nghia’s transformation into a modern and civilised locality. Its development is built on three key pillars: infrastructure, trade-services and tourism.

Strategically located at the gateway to key economic zones, Hau Nghia has the potential to become a regional hub for trade and culture. Expansive roads, bustling markets, and planned ecotourism projects are poised to drive its growth. Additionally, the area’s rich cultural and historical heritage—including monuments and traditional festivals—promises to attract visitors, promoting Hau Nghia as a warm, welcoming, and vibrant destination.

Hiep Hoa Commune - A riverside area with industry, high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism

Hiep Hoa is a promising new commune formed from the merger of Hiep Hoa, Tan Phu communes and Hiep Hoa town. Covering 55.02 km² and home to 32,869 people, Hiep Hoa not only possesses rich natural resources but also stands as a symbol of unity, ambition and sustainable development. The merger has created a strong and diverse community with cultural depth and economic potential.

Carrying the breath of local history and culture, the name “Hiep Hoa” embodies the spirit of harmony and community cohesion. From the vast rice fields of old Hiep Hoa, to the bustling town centre and the expansive land of Tan Phu, each area contributes its own colour to the commune’s vibrant landscape.
