A record 72 countries signed the document right in the opening for signature, reflecting confidence in the UN’s central role, Vietnam’s commitments and responsibility, as well as the international community’s shared concerns over cybercrime. Besides, their interest in the newly-introduced convention demonstrates broad global consensus and determination to bring the document into force.
Quang stressed that Vietnam’s hosting of the Hanoi Convention Signing Ceremony and High-level Conference is significant to building a safe, healthy cyberspace that supports national sustainable development.
This was the largest international event of its kind, he said, stating it showcased Vietnam’s political resolve and role in shaping a global cybersecurity ecosystem.
The Hanoi Convention will serve as a foundation for Vietnam to expand cooperation, enhance technical assistance, strengthen digital investigative capabilities, and promote information sharing. It will also help the country develop a modern national cybersecurity ecosystem centred on the protection of citizens’ rights, businesses, and national digital sovereignty.
Quang affirmed that the event created momentum for expanded cybersecurity education and awareness campaigns throughout society, enhancing public and corporate responsibility while contributing to a civilized and secure digital environment./.
