Tay Ninh accelerates social housing projects

To meet the housing needs of low-income residents and workers, Tay Ninh is prioritizing a range of measures to accelerate social housing development.

According to the provincial People’s Committee, Tay Ninh has approved the Social Housing Development Scheme for the period to 2025 with a vision to 2030, setting a target of completing 83,100 units.

To realise this goal, the province has zoned 79 land plots with a total area of more than 598 hectares for social housing development. Of these, the former Long An area accounts for 51 sites covering nearly 426 hectares, while the former Tay Ninh area has 28 sites spanning over 172 hectares. These locations are deemed sufficient to meet social housing development needs through 2030.

To date, the provincial People’s Committee has approved investment policies for 32 social housing projects with a combined area of more than 241 hectares, expected to supply over 47,100 units during 2025–2030.

Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Lam said the province has recently focused on reviewing land resources and planning social housing in industrial parks, residential areas, and urban zones, while issuing a range of mechanisms and policies to attract investors. As a result, several projects have been launched, initially helping address housing needs for workers and low-income earners.

The province has so far completed 11 social housing projects, delivering 4,358 units for around 35,000 workers. However, project implementation remains slower than planned and has yet to meet the growing housing demand.

In 2025, Tay Ninh will break ground on and prepare investment procedures for seven social housing projects with a total area of nearly 28 hectares and a combined scale of 6,740 units. Major projects include: the social housing component of the Hau Nghia–Duc Hoa New Urban Area (16 hectares, 2,000 units), the Phu An Thanh Social Housing Project (1.71 hectares, 1,100 units), the Phuong Mai Social Housing Zone (1.8 hectares, more than 1,600 units), and the Thanh Thanh Cong Residential Area (6.53 hectares, nearly 1,100 units). Some projects have already started construction, such as the Phuong Mai Social Housing Project and the Prodezi Social Housing Project.

In addition, the province expects to approve investment policies for 14 more projects in 2025, covering nearly 132 hectares with more than 30,000 units. Notable developments include the Hanh Phuc Social Housing Project (16.62 hectares, 2,190 units); a social housing project in Luong Hoa commune (10 hectares, 2,900 units); worker housing for the Nam Tan Tap Industrial Park (4.63 hectares, 1,500 units); and a concentrated social housing area in Long An ward (30 hectares, 7,500 units).

These new and ongoing projects are expected to support Tay Ninh in achieving its goal of developing nearly 76,500 social housing units during 2026–2030, meeting the rising housing needs of residents and the labour force./.
