Long An is working on the project on building 1 million social houses for workers and people with housing difficulties by 2030

Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Construction has developed the proposal on building social housing for workers in the period 2022-2025, up until 2030.

Accordingly, the set goal is to develop social housing for workers in the direction of modernity, synchronous technical and social infrastructure, with a high quality living environment, ensuring “bright - green - clean - beautiful”; being in harmony with nature; ensuring security and order and environmental protection; guaranteeing the interests of the State, enterprises and employees; gradually improving and raising the living standards of workers, serving the needs of social security.

According to Nguyen Van Trang, the Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, the plan and goal of the project is that the province will have built about 500,000 social houses for workers and people with housing difficulties by 2025, fulfilling the needs of about half of the workers for housing in industrial zones and clusters. In addition, by 2030, the province aims to build about 1,000,000 social houses for workers and people with housing difficulties, solving about 100 percent of the workers' housing needs in industrial zones and clusters.

Previously, on November 24, 2021, the Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 2243 on the implementation of Conclusion No. 219-KL/TU dated November 9, 2021 of the Standing Provincial Party Committee. Accordingly, the Long An Department of Construction was assigned to supervise, and coordinate with relevant agencies to develop the project on developing social housing for workers in the period 2022-2025, up until 2030.

Regarding building the project on developing social housing for workers, the Provincial Standing Committee unanimously agreed to assign the Party Personnel Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to supervise the Provincial People's Committee in urgently directing and hiring a consulting unit to prepare a specific and appropriate project in line with reality and development requirements in the coming time (calling for social capital to implement the project); at the same time, drawing on experiences from localities and consulting investors' ideas during the process of making projects; reporting to the Provincial Standing Committee and the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee for consideration and feedback./.
