Vietnam’s exports to US reach over US$35 billion in first nine months

Seven groups of Vietnamese exports to the US reported revenues of more than US$1 billion each, with garments being the highest-performing exports at US$10.33 billion, up 11.6% year on year and accounting for nearly 46% of Vietnam’s exports to the US.

The export of footwear products brought in US$4.27 billion, followed by phones and phone components at US$4.12 billion.

Timber exports generated revenue of US$2.73 billion, while the figure for computer exports was US$2.07 billion.

The respective export revenues of machinery and seafood were US$2.34 billion and US$1.14 billion.

Data from the General Department of Customs also showed that Vietnam imported US$9.55 billion worth of US goods in the first nine months of 2018, up 36% compared with the same period of 2017.

Since the Vietnam-US bilateral trade agreement came into effect in 2000, Vietnam’s exports to the world’s largest economy have been growing strongly year after year, from US$730 million in 2000 to US$41.6 billion in 2017./.
