In the first six months of the year, the country reached an estimated export turnover of US$19.4 billion from agriculture, an annual increase of 12%.

In which, rice exports reached US$1.81 billion, up 42.4%; fruit and vegetables (US$2 billion, up 20.3%), wood and wooden products (US$4.1 billion, up 12.1%); and fisheries (US$4.94 billion, up 10.5%).

The quality of Vietnamese rice has gradually approached international standards, prompted by the shift in global demand for higher quality rice.

According to the MARD, importing countries now prioritise the import of fragrant and Japonica rice varieties. Currently, African countries are also increasing their rice imports, creating opportunities for Vietnamese firms in the market.

Agricultural products are among the seven solution packages conducted by the ministry in order to maintain growth since the beginning of the year, aiming to reach US$40-40.5 billion in exports this year./.
