Deputy PM identifies major tasks for Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2019

Deputy Prime Minister set out major tasks for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2019 at a conference held in Hanoi on January 19.

Reviewing the ministry’s outstanding achievements in 2018, he spoke highly of the outcomes seen from the robust increase of number of visitors, the improvement in tourist services and visa procedure, the building of a safe tourist environment, and the more positive participation of residents and businesses in the ministry-launched programmes.

Mentioning the key tasks for 2019, the Government official asked the ministry to work more actively to discover and honour good people doing good deeds, while standing against bad and social evils in order to promote a healthy lifestyle in the community

Regarding culture and the arts, he requested the ministry to remove obstacles for artists, suggesting the ministry to mobilise businesses, particularly tourist businesses, in supporting art troupes and implementing culture-based tourist activities.

Talking about the preservation of cultural heritages, he attached great attention to safeguarding the traditional heritages of ethnic minority groups, from their languages and writing systems to their customs and living spaces.

In the area of sports, he asked for the promotion of sports practice at schools and in the community and called for sportsmanship in football.

While lauding the impressive results of the tourism sector over the past year, he also demanded a long-term vision to foster tourism activities in line with international standards, while ensuring environment protection and sustainable development.

He also noted that community-based tourism in localities should be effectively managed in order to keep the indigenous culture intact and encourage tourists’ readiness to visit the place again./.
