Exhibition on S’tieng ethnic group's culture opens in HCMC

An exhibition on S’tieng ethnic group opened at the Museum of Vietnamese History in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nearly 120 exhibits including houses, costumes, literature, festivals, rituals, production and hunting tools, jewellery and musical instruments and among presented to visitors the culture of S’tieng people.

The S’tieng people creates a diversified culture featuring characteristics of residents who live in the Central Highlands along the Truong Son Mountain Range.

Highlights are sets of gongs that play an important role in the lives of the inhabitants in the Central Highlands, presenting physical strength, virility spiritual powers of families and the community.

The cultural space of gongs was recognized by the United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.

The exhibition aims to mark the Vietnam Ethnic Group’s Culture Day (April 19), the International Museum Day (May 18), 43 years of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30) and the 132nd May Day (May 1).

It runs until August 19./.
