Rural roads have been invested in order to contribute to the implementation of the new rural program
Until June 2020, the whole province has 88 out of 161 communes and Chau Thanh district reaching new rural standards, exceeding the target of 83 communes meeting the standards by the end of 2020. Accordingly, in the period of 2015-2020, the province has mobilized over 55,300 billion VND to carry out the new rural program.
The program has made an important contribution to changing the appearance of rural areas, the socio-economic infrastructure system has been increasingly completed, the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved. Specifically, the average income in rural areas from 15.6 million VND per person per year (in 2010) has tripled (45 million VND per person per year (in 2019)); poor households reduced to 1.52 percent, near-poor households decreased to 2.71 percent; the development gap between rural and urban areas is gradually narrowed.
In the period of 2021-2025, the province set some goals. Accordingly, the whole province will have at least 5 more districts meeting new rural standards, including Tan Tru, Tan Thanh, Can Duoc, Ben Luc and Duc Hoa districts; Kien Tuong town will complete the implementation of the new rural program; Chau Thanh district will meet the new model rural standard.
At the commune level, 70 to 75 percent of the communes will reach the new rural standard (cumulative); at least 20 percent of communes (34 communes) will meet the advanced new rural standards (cumulative); no communes have less than 10 criteria according to the set of new rural commune criteria in the 2021-2025 period.
The total fund for the implementation of the new rural program in the 2021-2025 period will be estimated at 172,512 billion VND. The quality of life of rural people will be improved, the average income will increase at least 1.3 times compared to 2020.
According to the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Nguyen Thanh Truyen, in order to achieve the set goals, all levels, branches and localities should focus on propaganda so that people can clearly understand the role of their subjects in order to actively participate with the authorities in implementing the new rural program; direct the development of production and services associated with restructuring the agricultural sector towards sustainability and coping with climate change. Localities should focus on investing in building synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure in rural areas; improving inspection and supervision in the implementation of new rural areas./.
