Long An: Announcement of Prime Minister's decision about Chau Thanh district recognized to meet new-style rural standard

After 9 years of implementation, the National Target Program on building new-style rural in Chau Thanh district achieved positive results. From a pure agricultural district, monoculture of rice, low starting point, average growth rate reached 5.7 percent, Chau Thanh has now become a dynamic and rich district with potential for development. The economy maintained development with a relatively high and stable speed, achieving an average growth of over 8.1 percent per year.

In the period of 2011-2019, the total mobilized resources for building new-style rural in the district were over 1,900 billion VND. In which, the central budget was 480 billion VND, the province was over 420 billion VND, the district was over 230 billion VND, the commune was 57 billion VND; enterprises’ fund was 210 billion VND; People's capital contributed more than 570 billion VND.

With the efforts of the entire political system, the contribution of the people, the rural face of Chau Thanh is spacious, green, clean and more beautiful with many essential infrastructures in transport, irrigation, culture, health, education, and so on are interested in investing, upgrading and building. Agricultural production continued developing, appearing many production models, linking models and applying scientific and technological advances to bring high economic efficiency. Per capita income in 2019 reached 62.5 million VND per person per year (that in 2011 reached 22 million VND per person per)

Multidimensionally poor households in 2019 decreased to 0.92 percent (in 2011 to 4.66 percent), the material and spiritual life of rural people gradually improved. Social order and security in rural areas are ensured and maintained, etc. New-style rural construction has really become a strong and widespread movement in the whole area, and the political system and a large number of people enthusiastically responded and actively participated.

The Standing Deputy Prime Minister  - Truong Hoa Binh requests that Long An province and Chau Thanh district continue to emulate to improve the quality of criteria and strive to reach a model new-style rural.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Prime Minister - Truong Hoa Binh congratulated and praised the remarkable achievements and results that Long An Party Committee, authorities and people in general, Chau Thanh district in particular, efforts have been made and achieved over the years.

Standing Deputy Prime Minister - Truong Hoa Binh asked Long An province and Chau Thanh district to continue promoting the achieved results. The whole political system joined in, encouraged the people to join hands, contributed to the construction of a new-style rural, a rich and civilized homeland, continued emulating, improving the quality, and ensuring the sustainability of the new-style rural criteria associated with socio-economic development, ensuring the environment and the needs of the people, etc.

He emphasized that Chau Thanh district should follow the development orientation of the province, organize the implementation of key economic programs well. It should focus on administrative reform and improving the business investment environment, supporting the establishment and development of enterprises. It should focus on mobilizing effectively the resources for the synchronous development of socio-economic infrastructure. Developing high-tech agriculture in association with processing to make Chau Thanh become a model new-style rural district in the coming time, etc.

Long An People's Committee, Chau Thanh district awarded many certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in building Chau Thanh district to meet the new-style rural standard.
