Indonesia commits priority to ensuring security for ASIAD 18

Up to 30,000 security staff will be deployed to maintain security and prevent the worst cases during the event. The number of personnel to be deployed will depend on the security needs, including at competition venues and crowding areas. 

Deputy Governor of Jakarta Sandiaga Uno said the city plans to add 300 CCTV units to a total of 6,000 units already in operation. The cameras use face-recognition technology.

The Densus 88 anti-terror squad of the National Police would secure the Asian Games venues, especially in Tangerang, Banten province.

Chief Commissioner of the Tangerang City Police Sabilul Alif said police of Tangerang city and Banten province are working with Densus 88 to ensure the safety of athletes and foreign officials during the event. 

INASGOC Chairman Erick Thohir also asked for help from related parties to stand ready to cope with the potentially worst cases during the opening ceremony. 

Earlier, INASGOC announced that it will establish three security rounds from the gate of the stadium to competition areas to prevent any risk of sabotage or terrorism./.
