As the gateway to the Dong Thap Muoi region and the western provinces, Tan Thanh district has great potential in attracting investment to develop industry, trade and services. Currently, the district has 7 traditional markets (Tan Thanh, Tan Lap, Hau Thanh Dong, Bac Hoa, Nhon Ninh, Tan Ninh and Tan Thanh townlet); 5 convenience stores (3 The Gioi Di Dong stores, 1 Dien May Xanh store, 1 Bach Hoa Xanh store); 6 banks (Agribank, Vietinbank, BIDV, Sacombank, LienVietPostbank, Bank for Social Policies) and Hau Thanh Dong People's Credit Fund.

In addition, Con Cung convenience store is under construction in Tan Thanh townlet; Other system chains are contacting to find space to open stores such as SanHa, Co.opfood, etc.

Together with the development of a system of convenience stores, the district also has many big projects being deployed and implemented, it promises to open and develop industry, commerce and services, bringing the locality to a breakthrough towards improving people's life quality. Vinh Khang Industrial Cluster (IC) project is prominently located in Xom Than hamlet, Tan Binh commune.

Currently, Vinh Khang IC has an area of over 17 hectares, continuing to be expanded to over 55 hectares. Vinh Khang IC is invested by Vinh Khang Real Estate Company Limited. The company is completing infrastructure items to be able to call for secondary investors. This place will be an ideal location for domestic and foreign investors, with industry groups such as food processing, textile, garment, brick and tile production, wood processing, glass production, recycling plastic products, production of microbial fertilizers, etc.

One of the other important projects of the district is the establishment of a garden eco-tourism area, with 375 hectares at the pumping station area of Tan Lap commune. Accordingly, the District People's Committee presently conducts site clearance and completes rural transport infrastructure; encourage people to switch from low-yield rice-growing land to fruit-growing trees of high economic value in order to gradually form a specialized fruit tree area.

When the project of eco-tourism area in Tan Lap commune is officially put into operation, it will be an ideal sightseeing and entertainment destination for domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to creating a breakthrough for local trade and service to develop.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Lap Commune - Vo Van Dien shared: "When the eco-tourism area is planned, the people are very supportive. Through the survey, Tan Lap land is suitable for growing different kinds of fruit trees. Currently, some fruit growing areas initially bring high economic value such as durian, longan, rambutan, etc. Before the Covid-19 epidemic, some groups from Ho Chi Minh City often visited the fruits garden. When the local garden eco-tourism area is formed, people's lives will constantly improve".

Efforts to open traffic "blood vessels"

In order to create favorable conditions to attract investment and develop projects, Tan Thanh district has always determined to open the traffic "blood vessels". Accordingly, the district is planning the following routes: bypass to the west of Tan Thanh townlet, estimated 6 kilometers; bypass to the east of Tan Thanh townlet, estimated 6 kilometers; organize the general adjustment of the planning of Tan Thanh townlet to step by step towards a grade IV urban area; etc.

In the coming time, especially in the period 2021-2026, the Central Government and the province will expand to invest in National Highways (NH) 62, NH N2. In particular, the Department of Transport is proposing to build a parallel NH 62, in which it is expected that phase 1 of this route will be invested from Thu Thua district to Tan Thanh district, the part belonging to Tan Thanh district about 5 kilometres. These NHs all pass through the district will make an important contribution to attracting investment, developing industry, trade and services when they are completed.

In addition to investing in "lifeline" roads, the district also takes advantage of resources from the state budget, socializing investment in bridges and rural roads according to new-style rural standards. Thereby, it helps the district fulfill the criteria of rural transport, and creating conditions for the synchronous development of traffic from rural to urban areas.

Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Thanh District - Le Thanh Dong said: “In recent years, the economic, cultural and social situation of the district has seen many positive changes, with the average growth rate in the period 2015-2020, reaching 7.34 percent, the economic structure has basically shifted in the right direction, sector I (industry - construction) and region II (trade - services) increasingly account for a large proportion in the economic structure. Many important works and projects have been implemented, gradually creating a spacious face and driving force for economic, cultural and social development.

In the coming time, the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee will continue to determine that only the development of industry, trade and services can create a breakthrough, contributing to promoting economic, cultural and social development. In order to achieve the set goals, the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee proposed some solutions: continue to increase investment in traffic infrastructure - Road No. 3 connecting the townlet center to NH N2, asphalt roads adjacent to the road bordering Tien Giang and Dong Thap province such as Ca Nhip, Bui Moi, Phung Thot; calling for the development of a chain of convenience stores, etc., strengthening administrative procedures reform, creating a favorable environment to attract investment; improve the quality and effectively implement the planning, promote and rationally use resources to spend on development investment activities, improve the district's infrastructure, in order to attract investment; increase support for investors in site clearance for implementing the investment projects; building the brand name of the district, promoting geographical advantages and land resources".

With the results achieved along with the potentials and advantages of the locality, it is believed that the Party Committee, authorities and people of Tan Thanh district will gradually build the locality to become a bright spot in Dong Thap Muoi area in terms of industrial, commercial and service development./.
