The whole province has nearly 1,200 birdhouses

Currently, the whole province has nearly 1,200 birdhouses, an increase of about 650 compared to 2020. Of which, the number of birdhouses in Dong Thap Muoi region accounts for over 60%, with about 700 birdhouses. This rapid development is driven by many factors, including the high economic value of birdhouses, local support policies and the development potential of the industry.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, since 2020, the province has issued a list of areas allowed to build birdhouses. Accordingly, the birdhouse must be outside the areas where breeding is not allowed, including some wards of Tan An city, Kien Tuong town; town areas in the districts of Ben Luc, Duc Hoa, Can Duoc, Can Giuoc, Thu Thua, Tan Tru, Chau Thanh, Duc Hue, Thanh Hoa, Tan Thanh, Vinh Hung, Moc Hoa, Tan Hung; existing residential areas, clusters, or routes with investment policies approved by competent authorities. At the same time, birdhouses must be at least 300m away from the administrative boundary of areas where breeding is not allowed.

Based on the regulations on breeding areas and the characteristics of birdhouses, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development advises the Provincial People's Committee to continue to orient sub-regions that meet the conditions for developing the birdhouse industry in conjunction with local land use planning and specialized legal regulations on investment, construction, and environment.

Along with that, the department has been coordinating with relevant departments and branches to manage the licensing of birdhouse construction. At the same time, the department also promotes the construction of a chain of links in the production and consumption of bird's nest products, encourages the establishment of bird nest farming association, participates in the bird nest association, promotes the development of OCOP products, etc.

The department also coordinates with localities to review farming facilities which want to export bird nest products; grasp information on difficulties of households and facilities, thereb issuing timely support policies to promote the development of the bird nest farming industry in accordance with its potential and advantages./.
