Long An: Economic growth rate 2020 expected to achieve 9.5 - 9.6 percent

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Pham Van Ranh asks the provincial People's Committee, departments, branches and localities to strive, perform the socio-economic development tasks set out in 2020 drastically and effectively

In 2020, Long An province sets the goal of "Continuing to focus on restructuring the province's economy, improving the environment for investment, business and the growth quality; mobilizing all resources to effectively implement 02 breakthrough programs and 03 key works of the Resolution of the Xth Congress of the provincial Party Committee; strengthening socialization in the fields of culture - society, ensuring social security, improving the people’s material and spiritual life; promoting administrative reform, promoting scientific and technological development; continuing to streamline the organizational structure, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the political system; consolidating national defense and security; maintaining political stability; safety and order of society".

The province set out 25 key targets, 116 key tasks to implement the socio-economic development plan in 2020. In particular, the province strives for Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) from 9.5 - 9.6 percent; GDP per capita reaches from 80-85 million VND per year; food production of 2.7 million tons; and so on.

From these, Long An proposed 10 solutions to perform the tasks. Firstly, the province continues to promote innovation and reform towards synchronization and modernity to meet the requirements of integration.

Secondly, the province ensures large balances, creating a platform for fast and sustainable development.
 
Thirdly, the province promotes to restructure the economy associated with renewing the growth model, improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness more substantively and effectively, accelerate the process for transforming growing model based on the application of science and technology, innovation and improvement of labor productivity.

Fourthly, the province mobilizes and uses all resources effectively, accelerates the construction of infrastructure system and urban development.

Fifthly, the province focuses on improving the quality of human resources associated with fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training, innovation and development, application of modern science and technology, meeting market demands with a reasonable number and career structure.

Sixthly, the province develops culture and arts; makes progress, social justice and improves the quality of people’s life in harmony with economic development.

Seventhly, the province proactively responds to climate change, prevents and controls natural disasters, enhances resource management and environmental protection.

Eighthly, the province improves the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, promotes administrative reform, inspection, examination and settlement of complaints and denunciations, fights against corruption, wastefulness and negativity fiercely.

Ninthly, the province combines closely and effectively between economic development with national defense and security, ensures social order and safety, raises the efficiency of foreign affairs activities and international integration.

Tenthly, the province promotes the work of information, press and communication.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Pham Van Ranh emphasized that 2020 is a decisive year in leading the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Xth Provincial Party Congress and provincial plan for developing economy - society in 5 years (from 2016 to 2020). It is also the year to conduct the Party Congress at all levels and the XI Party Congress of the Provincial Party.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee asked the provincial People's Committee, departments, branches and localities to strive and implement drastically and effectively the socio-economic development tasks set for 2020. The province focuses on mobilizing all sources for development investment; continues to take measures to improve the efficiency of attracting investment and operate the industrial parks and complexes; focuses on implementing administrative reform, improving investment and business environment. At the same time, the province promotes the effective implementation of solutions to restructure the agricultural sector; implements the management and supervision of public investment strictly according to the provisions of law; focuses on performing the tasks of budget revenue and expenditure according to the set plan.

At the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Tran Van Can proposed the heads of departments, branches and leaders of localities to urgently develop their units’ action plan; implementing basic construction projects, focusing budget revenue right from the beginning of the year. At the same time, they must promote to restructure the economy associated with renewing the growth model, improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness more substantively and effectively, mobilize and use human resources efficiently, speeding up the construction of infrastructure systems and urban development; proactively respond to climate change, prevent and fight natural disasters; strengthen resource management and environmental protection; improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, accelerate administrative reforms, inspect, examine and settle complaints and denunciations and drastically fight against corruption, wastefulness and negativity.

At the conference, leaders of some departments, sectors and localities discussed and contributed their opinions so that it will be successful to achieve the objectives, targets, tasks and solutions for socio-economic development in 2020./.
