Long An: Ten remarkable achievements in 2020

In 2020, Long An has achieved many results in socio-economic development and is showing its position as a province located in the Southern key economic region and the leading province in the Mekong River Delta.

1. Long An successfully organized the Party Congress at all levels and the XIth Congress of the Provincial Party Committee, term 2020-2025

The XIth Congress of the Provincial Party Committee, term 2020-2025, took place from October 13 to October 16, 2020 at Thong Nhat Hall of Provincial People's Committee; 350 out of 350 delegates attended, representing 47,611 members of 19 delegations of Party Committee under the Provincial Party Committee (302 comrades were representatives elected from the Party Congress under the Provincial Party Committee and 48 members were appointed members of the Party Committee). The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the provincial Party Committee, session XI, term 2020-2025 including 52 comrades (with 1 not available), of which, young members: 5 comrades, accounting for 9.61 percent; female members: 5 comrades, accounting for 9.61 percent. With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Dynamicity - Development", the Congress proposed 3 key projects, 3 breakthrough programs and 17 targets, 6 groups of main tasks and solutions in the term.

2. Celebrating the 110th anniversary of the birth of comrade Nguyen Huu Tho - Former Acting State President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the National Scientific Conference: Comrade Nguyen Huu Tho with the Vietnamese revolution and his hometown Long An

On July 6, 2020, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics coordinated with the Office of the National Assembly, Central Propaganda Department and Long An Provincial Party Committee to organize a national workshop: Comrade Nguyen Huu Tho with the Vietnam revolution and his hometown Long An, on the 110th anniversary of the birth of comrade Nguyen Huu Tho (July 10, 1910 - July 10, 2020). Member of the Politburo, Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Government - Truong Hoa Binh attended the event.

The seminar received more than 50 speeches from leaders of the Party, State, scientists, representatives of departments, ministries, branches, central organizations of Long An province - the homeland of the lawyer, State President Nguyen Huu Tho and some provinces and cities in the North, Central and South. Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Long An - Nguyen Van Duoc delivered the presentation "The Party and people of Long An study and follow the example of President Nguyen Huu Tho".

3. Long An successfully organized the Conference for Standing People's Council in the Southeast region and the Mekong River Delta region 

The conference took place on July 10 and 11, 2020. This is the 6th Conference for Standing Committee of People's Councils of provinces and cities in the Southeast region and the 8th Mekong River Delta region, term 2016-2021. Committees of People's Councils and Office of People's Council/ Office of National Assembly Delegation and People's Council/ Office of Delegation of National Assembly, People's Councils and People's Committees of provinces and cities exchange experiences on improving the quality of verification of contents under fields in charge to submit at the meetings of the Provincial People's Council; experience in improving the quality of supervision activities of committees of the People's Council; participating in conducting explanatory activities at the Conference for Standing Committee of the People's Council.

4. Long An built and repaired 1,860 gratitude houses, houses for poor households; it also held a meeting to thank donors for the development and social security of the province in 2020.

In 2020, Long An implements and performs the program of building and repairing gratitude houses for people with meritorious services to the revolution, people of worshiping Vietnamese Heroic Mother and removing temporary houses for poor households. With the efforts of branches and localities, especially the cooperation of businesses, philanthropists, the province has built and repaired 1,860 houses, with a total amount of 79,882 billion VND. This is the work welcoming the XIth Provincial Party Congress.

On September 12, 2020, the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to thank donors for the development and social security of the province in 2020. Up to now, businesses, donors with the campaign Former State President Truong Tan Sang has contributed over 600 billion VND, of which 55.5 billion VND in 2020 to build works, implement social security programs in the province, contribute to promoting local socio-economic development, meeting traffic criteria in new-style rural construction.

5. Chau Thanh district was recognized to meet the new-style rural standard and Tan An city completed the program of building a new-style rural construction.

On May 31, 2020, the Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to recognize Chau Thanh district as a new-style rural standard and receive the Third-Class Labor Medal. Chau Thanh is also the first district of the province to be recognized as a new-style rural district. On October 5, 2020, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1504/QD-TTg recognizing Tan An City to complete the task of building a new-style rural.


6. Long An International Port has completed phase 1 and started phase 2.

Long An International Port is located in a complex of 4 component projects with a total scale of 1,935 hectares; Of which, Long An International Port is 147 hectares, built into 3 phases with a total capital of over 9,000 billion VND, including 7 berths capable of receiving ships of 30,000-70,000 DWT with a total length of berths. 1,670 meters and 4 barge berths to receive barges of 2,000 tons. On September 26, 2020, Dong Tam Group officially inaugurated phase 1 and started phase 2 of Long An International Port.
 
7. Long An Obstetrics Hospital officially came into operation.

On July 10, 2020, Long An TWG Obstetrics Hospital was officially inaugurated and put into operation. The hospital was started construction in 2011 with a scale of 500 beds, the total investment up to now is more than 1,500 billion VND. This is a transition project from public investment to private investment in the form of socialization under the Government's guidelines.
  
8. The total state budget revenue in the province is about 18,400 billion VND.

In 2020, although facing many difficulties due to epidemics, drought, salinity, and so on, but with the determination and efforts of all levels, sectors, especially the business community, business households, province both the prevention and control of Covid-19 and the state budget revenue of over 18,000 billion VND, 2 percent higher than in 2019, continues to lead the Mekong River Delta region.
 
9. Completion of the investment and putting into use the martyrs' temple at the national-level historic site of Don Long Khot area.

The National Historic Site of Don Long Khot Area officially started construction on September 3, 2020, invested and managed by Dong Nai General Agricultural Service Cooperative Union (Donaco-op). Project and Dai Nam Handicraft Cooperative is responsible for the construction. The project is divided into 2 phases, in which phase 1 has a total investment of 54.3 billion VND. This is the place to mark the great victories and sacrifices of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Regiments under the 5th Division; Regiment 174; local army and people and other main units in the period 1972-1975 and during the national southwestern border defense war.
 
10. Construction of 4 new industrial zones and 2 industrial clusters in the province.

By 2020, Long An has 4 industrial zones (IZs) and 2 industrial clusters (ICs) starting the construction of infrastructure. They are Huu Thanh Industrial Park - Duc Hoa, with an area of 524.14 hectares, invested by IDICO Corporation-JSC; Viet Phat Industrial Park with an area of 1,800 hectares, is invested by Tan Thanh Long An Investment Joint Stock Company and Vietnam Creative Industrial Park Management Joint Stock Company is the project developer; Duc Hoa 3 Industrial Park - Slico with an area of nearly 200 hectares, is invested by Saigon - Long An Industrial Park Infrastructure Business Construction Investment Joint Stock Company and Minh Duc LA Investment and Development Joint Stock Company is the business and development unit; An Nhut Tan Industrial Park with an area of 120 hectares, is invested by An Nhut Tan Long An Company Limited; Vinh Khang Industrial Park with an area of 18.4 hectares, is invested by Vinh Khang Long An Real Estate Company; Hai Son Duc Hoa Industrial Zone with an area of 261 hectares, is invested by Hai Son Company Limited./.
