The 13th Conference of the Provincial Party Committee
Provincial Party Committee on October 09 held the 13th Conference to review the mid-term implementation of the Resolution of the 10th Party Congress for the 2015 - 2020 tenure.
Specifically, 18 out of 21 main targets were well implemented. They are forecast to be obtainable and exceed plan by 2020. Of these, gross regional domestic product (GRDP) was relatively high reaching 9.29 percent in the phase of 2016 - 2017 and 10.96 percent in the first half of 2018.
Economic structure continues shifting toward industrialization and modernization. GDP per capita by the end of 2017 was VND 61 million per year. The material and spiritual life of the people was clearly improved.

The 150th death anniversary of national hero Nguyen Trung Truc was solemnly organized at Vam Nhut Tao Historical Relic Site, An Nhut Tan commune, Tan Tru district on October 19.
Nguyen Trung Truc (1839 - 1868) was the leader of the anti-French colonial uprising in Southern Vietnam, remembered for his famous statement, “Only when all the grass in Vietnam is removed, there will be no Vietnamese fighting aggressors.”
The festival included various activities which highlight the traditional culture of the Vietnamese. This event lured thousands of visitors in and outside the province.
3. The 70th anniversary of Moc Hoa victory

Long An Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony in Kien Tuong town on August 18 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Moc Hoa victory in Long An province (1948 - 2018).
Moc Hoa victory in 1948 is an important landmark in the fighting for national independence and reunification in 1975 by Vietnamese soldiers and civilians.
4. Economic growth rate reached 10.36%, exceeding the resolution target of 9.4% and becoming the highest rate in the period of 2012 - 2018.

Of which, Zone No.1 witnessed a growth of 4.88% , Zone No.2 increased 15,41% and Zone No.3 reached at 6,73%.
5. Provincial road 830 open to traffic
Provincial road 830 open to traffic
Provincial Road DT 830 Upgrading & Expanding Project is regarded as one of three key projects of the Resolution of the 10th Provincial Party Congress. The length of the provincial road 830 is about 55km, linking up 4 districts: Duc Hoa, Ben Luc, Can Duoc, and Can Giuoc.
The route was expanded to connect industrial zones in the province’s key economic zone and Long An International Port in an attempt to promote economic development.
6. Implementing Scheme No. 02-DA/TU on streamlining the government apparatus and enhancing the operational efficiency of the provincial political system in line with Decision No. 18, 19-NQ/TW by the 12th Central Party Committee.

After one year of implementation, the project has initially acquired some achievements. Thanks to the rearrangement, government agencies, units and localities have operated more stably and achieved some early successes concerning the executive activities of leaders in the process of implementing different assigned tasks.
7. The 8th Provincial Sports Games
The 8th Provincial Sports Games
The event was held from September 30, 2017 to May 27, 2018 with the participation of 2,322 athletes competing in 17 subjects.
After the success of the provincial sports games at the 8th National Sports Games, the athletes of Long An province competed in 5 subjects including athletics, diving, swimming, wrestling, and volleyball. Long An won 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 15 bronze medals; ranked 43 out of 65 sports delegations in the whole country.
This is a successful competition of the provincial sports delegation as in the last three national sports games, Long An had no gold medal.
8. The 3rd Vietnam Rice Festival
The 3rd Vietnam Rice Festival
The 3rd Vietnam Rice Festival and the ceremony to announce the logo for Vietnamese rice kicked off from December 18 to 24 in the Mekong Delta province of Long An’s Tan An city. Attracting 1,058 display booths from 612 localities and organizations, the festival was on the theme of "Agriculture, farmers, sustainable rural development; the Vietnamese prioritize consumption of Vietnamese products”...
The event aims to introduce and promote the potential and strength of Long An and the Mekong Delta as well as support businesses in agricultural production. The festival is a chance for localities and enterprises to promote their products, exchange experience, seek cooperation opportunities and partners. It also advertises agricultural products of the Mekong Delta region.
9. Long An has the first solar power project
Long An has the first solar power project
Construction of the first solar power plant in the province started on September 16.
Invested by BCG Bang Duong company, a member of the Bamboo Capital Group (BCG), the project covers 50.2 hectares and has a total investment of 42 million USD in Thanh An commune of Thanh Hoa district.
Once in place, the plant is expected to annually generate a maximum of 60 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
10. 2018 National Cai Luong Festival
2018 National Cai Luong Festival
The 2018 National Cai Luong Festival took place in the Mekong Delta province of Long An on September 5 with 32 diverse performances from 25 units and more than 1,500 artists.
Top awards for the best play, best director, best scriptwriter, best actor and best actress were presented. Cai Luong play "The life of mother" (Cuoc doi cua me) by Long An Cai Luong Art Group won the best author award, received gold medals for the whole team, 2 individual gold medals and 2 individual silver medals.
The festival aims to revitalize Cai Luong art in the community and foster a love of this particular kind of art amongst the people, especially young audiences./.
