School-year 2019-2020: Long An needs to overcome local lack of teachers

The school-year 2018-2019, the whole province has 609 kindergartens and high schools with a total of 329,527 children and students. The whole sector has 16,902 preschool teachers and high school teachers. In 2019, the whole province has 301 schools meeting national standards, reaching 49.18 percent; graduated from high school with 97.2 percent.

Last school year, the school system is strengthened, arranged and improved its quality.

Preschool education, quality of nurturing childcare and education are improved, 100 percent of 5-year-old children attended morning-and-afternoon class. Primary education implements many effective teaching programs, in which, "Hand-molding" method is implemented in all primary schools.

Secondary education implements the model of "Organizing the renewal of group work or professional groups according to lesson study", schools often innovate ways of teaching. Teaching and learning activity is associated with creative experiences, using knowledge learned in practice.

Continuing education continues to maintain, strengthen and improve the activities of the Cultural - Sports and Centers for Community Learning.

However, in the last school year, the educational sector also had many limitations. Particularly, the situation of lacking local teachers at all educational levels, lack of more than 700 preschool teachers; the situation of teachers violating teachers' morality; crimes and online games are strongly affecting the students’ process of learning and training; the results of diverting students after graduating from secondary and high schools are still low.

In the school year 2019-2020, the educational sector set out the main directions and tasks. In particular, the work of reviewing, planning and developing the network of education and training institutions in the whole province, improving the quality of teachers and educational staff at all levels; improving the quality of preschool and general education; implementing the new curriculum of general education textbooks; and so on.

At the conference, the Chairman of Education Trade Union launched emulation in the sector.

On this occasion, Hau Nghia high school (in Duc Hoa district) received an excellent emulation flag of the Government; 19 schools received the emulation flag of the provincial People's Committee.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa instructed: "The Education and Training Department well implemented the direction of the Prime Minister - Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the conference on ending the school-year organized by the Ministry of Education and Training; the Education and Training Department and related branches review planning projects in industrial zones and clusters, it is necessary to immediately implement if there is a planning for cultural institutions; the sector continues to implement fundamental and comprehensive innovations in education and training, in which schools for gifted students and high-quality schools continue to ensure and improve quality; overcome the shortage of local teachers, especially preschool and primary teachers; implementing the renovation of preschool and general education, in which enhancing moral education and life skills for students, especially focusing on 3 environments in education; purchase equipment to meet the needs of the new school year, and so on"./.
