Tourism heritage promoted in Long An - Princess sleeping in forest

On March 7, the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities of Ho Chi Minh City organized a tour, a seminar on conserving and promoting cultural heritage in developing Long An tourism.

During the tour, the delegation visited some relics in Can Duoc and Can Giuoc districts such as Ton Thanh Pagoda, Rach Nui relic site, Tan Chanh Communal House, Rach Cat Fort and the Hundred-Pillar House. Experts from Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities highly appreciates Long An's conservation work. However, until now, the relics and heritages in the province have not been promoted and are considered as "princesses sleeping in the forest".

During the seminar, experts analyzed and contributed to the promotion of relics and cultural heritages in tourism development in Long An. In order to develop tourism, Long An needs to build a local brand, bring culture and life into tourism, and so on.

From his research, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tho - Dean of Faculty of Culture, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, proposed to build 2 tourist routes in Long An: Cultural and historical festival (through the districts of Can Duoc, Can Giuoc, Chau Thanh and Tan An city) and Oc Eo cultural journey on Long An land (along 2 Vam Co Rivers).

The tour is an activity to strengthen cooperation and academic exchange in the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage in developing tourism in Long An province, and it also creates favorable conditions for introducing cultural research theories and social application in researching and teaching at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities of Ho Chi Minh City./.
