Speaking before Parliament, Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir highlighted Vietnam’s strong wind power potential, stressing that if connected through the regional grid, this energy source could bring significant benefits to Malaysia.

Alongside efforts to expand large-scale solar projects, Malaysia has set a target of achieving 40% renewable energy by 2040.

According to Deputy Minister Akmal, the current grid capacity can still accommodate new energy sources; however, for long-term stability, investments are needed in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and smart grid technologies.

The Malaysian government is also exploring new energy sources under its National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), including pilot projects on clean energy./.
