The index, which ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption according to experts and businesspeople, uses a scale of 0 to 100, where zero is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean.
According to TI, Vietnam has seen a slight increase in CPI in two successive years 2016-2017 showing that Vietnam has performed better in corruption fight.
However, corruption in public sectors is still serious which parallel with the Party and the government of Vietnam’s assessment of corruption.
The international organization assessed in 2017, along with the Party and the government’s commitment, corruption fight in public sector has harvested some good results including trials for some serious corruption cases involved in high-ranking officers.
Moreover, Vietnam is continuing to complete its law framework on corruption fight as well as amend some regulations on the matter in accordance with international standards.
In addition, TI proposed Vietnam to enhance measures against corruption, building mechanism, increasing leaders’ responsibility and social participation in supervision meanwhile Vietnam is implementing the national action plan for the Sustainable Development Goals aiming to attain good changes in the whole system by 2030.
