Effectiveness of mobile jobs fairs

According to the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, in recent times, the Department has deployed and implemented activities connecting vocational training institutions, Employment Service Centers with enterprises to provide vocational training and create jobs; organized 13 mobile job fairs in localities, participated in 6 online job fairs with provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.

Thanks to that, Long An created jobs for 31,720 workers, sent 705 workers to work abroad, increased the rate of trained workers in the province to over 74.74% (of which 33.15% have degrees and certificates).

The job fair held in Can Duoc district attracted 6 companies to participate in consulting, with 2 of them qualified to send workers abroad including New Technology Application and Tourism Company Limited (NEWTATCO); OJT Japan Company Limited and 4 domestic companies including: Hoa Phat Long An Steel Pipe Company Limited; Jion Vina Company Limited; Petfood Evolution Company Limited; Tay Nam Steel Production and Trading Company Limited.

The fair attracted more than 400 participants including: Steering Committee and expert team to assist in implementing the Project of sending workers to work abroad under labor contracts in Can Duoc district, period 2021-2025; demobilized soldiers, militia forces; young people of working age and students preparing to graduate from high school.

At the end of the session, 6 workers registered directly and 102 workers registered through the form of OJT Japan Co., Ltd. about the need to work in Japan.

Mr. Hua Tan Tri (Long Thanh Hamlet, Long Trach Commune) said: "Coming to the session, I have the opportunity to meet many businesses, opening up higher job opportunities. Currently, I am about to go to Japan for labor cooperation".

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs - Nguyen Dai Tanh, job sessions play an important role in connecting workers and businesses, becoming a bridge to help workers and businesses have the opportunity to meet, exchange information about recruitment needs and find jobs.

Job fairs help both employees and businesses save time and money in searching through recruitment channels. This is an opportunity for employees to learn more about job requirements, working conditions, and benefits of businesses. On the contrary, businesses can also grasp the capacity and desires of employees to adjust their recruitment strategies, etc.

Expanding job opportunities for young people

Within the framework of the 2022-2025 cooperation program between the Provincial Youth Union and the Long An Employment Service Center; many conferences, seminars, consulting, career guidance and job introduction for youth union members and young people are organized in many localities in the province. Thereby consulting and training soft skills for young people, legal advice for employees and employers, providing information on domestic and foreign labor markets.

On September, the 2024 Youth Job Fair held in Duc Hoa district attracted the participation of 250 youth union members and workers aged 20-27. Thereby contributing to raising awareness of youth union members and the whole society about policies on careers and employment; orienting youth union members to choose a career that suits their abilities.

The Youth Job Fair is a bridge to help young union members and young workers have the opportunity to interact, demonstrate their abilities, and find job opportunities in the right field and profession, creating a favorable environment to promote the economic development process focusing on potential industries and fields, strengths in the socio-economic development of the province.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Youth Union of the province - Le Thi Hong Ket said that in the context of many economic fluctuations, creating job opportunities for the youths is an urgent task. This is a testament to the attention and efforts of leaders at all levels, businesses and the whole society in supporting the search for suitable jobs, career development and contributing to the overall development of the country.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Tam (Duc Hoa Thuong Commune, Duc Hoa District) shared: “After the Covid-19 pandemic, I fell into unemployment. Recently, I works at Duc Hoa District Youth Union. However, my major is information technology, so I want to find a “side job” to do overtime. At the Youth Job Fair, many businesses consulted and introduced me to many new job opportunities. Currently, a company has contacted me and I am negotiating the job as well as the salary”.

Through the Youth Job Fair, young people have more opportunities to approach businesses, learn about the labor market's needs and choose a career that suits their abilities. This fair not only helps young people stabilize their lives but also contributes to building a high-quality workforce, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development of the province./.
