The shortage of skilled labor

The Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs informed that, according to the report of General Statistics Office, the Vietnamese labor market has had positive changes. The labor force and the number of people with jobs in the first quarter of 2024 increased compared to the same period; The average monthly income of workers increased compared to the previous quarter and the same period last year.

In Long An, to support and facilitate workers to look up information and find jobs, the Provincial People's Committee directed the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate with relevant departments, branches, agencies and units to compile and update on the training and labor recruitment needs on the province's electronic information portal and the Long An Digital application.

Through weekly updates on labor recruitment needs and reports from Long An Employment Service Center, accumulated since the beginning of 2024, there are 49 enterprises with recruitment needs for 3,850 job positions, concentrated mainly in industrial zones, clusters and businesses in Tan An City and Ben Luc, Duc Hoa, Can Duoc, Can Giuoc, Thu Thua districts. It is forecast that in 2024, the recruitment demand of businesses in the province will be about 19,500 jobs. Of which, general jobs will account for 59.96%; economic and office jobs will accounts for 16.43%; processing and manufacturing jobs will accounts for 14.87%; mechanical engineering and technology jobs will accounts for 8.75%; etc.

According to General Director of Ching Luh Vietnam Shoes Company Limited (Ben Luc district) - Cynthia Hsieh, as an enterprise with a relatively large number of employees, the company always focuses human resources to meet production and business needs of enterprises. The company also aims to apply advanced and modern science and technology, invest in a lot of modern machinery and automation, and recruit many positions related to automation/English/electronic technical skills/IT.

However, currently, recruitment is difficult because labor does not meet the requirements of the job. Therefore, the company proposed local support and is finding solutions to solve labor problems. If universities or vocational schools in the province can teach students the mentioned professions, it will be really useful for businesses in the future.

In addition, the company can provide internship programs for students at schools, which will help them have the opportunity to access real work and shape their future jobs. When they graduate, they will easily choose a suitable job at the enterprise. The company needs a coordination mechanism to make the process effective.

ChingLuh Vietnam Shoes Co. Ltd (Ben Luc district) needs skilled labor to serve production and business.

According to the representative of Chutex International Co. Ltd. - Le Tran Thanh Hai, the company operates in the field of manufacturing and processing garments for export with 100% Singaporean capital. The company has about 2,000 employees serving production and business. Due to the need to expand business, they want to recruit more employees.

Besides general workers, the company also needs skilled workers. They recommend that provincial agencies, departments and branches have policies and solutions to support businesses in recruiting labor resources in the province because recently, many workers have quit their jobs and recruitment has been difficult, affecting the company's production and business activities.

Focus on training high quality human resources

High-quality human resources are workers who are physically, mentally, and professionally qualified; proficient and talented in work. This is an important "core" to develop the economy and the country into global integration.

Connecting labor supply and demand

Ms. Nguyen Hong Mai informed: To support businesses in recruiting workers, the department deploys and implements many solutions: continue to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to synthesize and update the training and recruitment needs of workers and businesses in the province every week to facilitate people to look up recruitment information and find suitable jobs.

The department directs the Long An Employment Service Center until the end of 2024 to continue implementing 25 job transaction sessions directly at the center and in industrial parks, clusters, and localities to connect workers to find jobs with businesses that need to recruit; coordinate with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Youth Union, Veterans Association, Women's Union of districts, towns and cities, and collaborators in communes, wards and towns to widely inform the recruitment needs to people in the area.

In particular, coordinating with the Mekong Delta provinces to organize online job finding sessions; connecting online supply and demand between workers and businesses that need to recruit workers; deploying application software in labor market information forecasting; using labor management software to connect employers, workers with local management agencies to provide information on the labor market and labor recruitment needs.

Mobilizing businesses to improve salaries and reasonable incentives such as bonuses, travel allowances, bus arrangements, motel expenses and other supports, etc to keep workers and attract labor resources from neighboring provinces. The department requests businesses to provide specific information about labor recruitment needs (quantity, qualification requirements, recruitment time; salary policies, welfare regimes for workers) for synthesis and posting on the portal of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Provincial Electronic Information Portal, Long An Digital application and transfer information to Long An Employment Service Center to coordinate and support businesses.

In addition, to promptly supplement the immediate labor source, businesses can subhire labor for some job positions that are allowed to subhire labor according to regulations. Currently, in the province, there are 2 enterprises licensed by Provincial People's Committee to operate labor sublease operations: Truong Cuu Thinh Investment Company Limited at Tran Anh Residential Area, New 2 hamlet, My Hanh Nam Commune, Duc Hoa District and Human HR Service Trading Investment Company Limited, at New 2 hamlet, My Hanh Nam commune, Duc Hoa district./.
