Agricultural products are divided for delivery to users through "special shipper"
More than a week ago, Mr. Nguyen Van Kia Ri (Nhon Tri hamlet, Nhon Thanh Trung commune, Tan An city) had to ask for help from the Farmers' Association of Tan An City to help him how to consume 5 tons of ripe green-skinned pomelo. Mr. Kia Ri shared: “Ripe pomelos can stay on the tree for 7-15 days, but keeping them longer will affect the quality of the fruits. I sell at this time with cheap price, but it is better to sell than nothing".
Previously, Mr. Kia Ri sold pomelos via traders, workers at Thuan Dao market and his acquainted people. But since the Covid-19 epidemic occurred, they have all reduced their income, so it has become more difficult to wholesale. At the same time, the restriction of out-going also makes Mr. Kia Ri unable to deliver pomelos when the buyers have demand.
Before Mr. Kia Ri's difficulties, the Farmers' Association of Tan An City quickly informed the leaders of Tan An City to create the best conditions for pomelo consumption. Mr. Kia Ri was facilitated by the health sector to quickly test the Covid-19 antigen. After that, he continued to be facilitated to deliver pomelos to people's houses in Tan An city area. Just over a week, Mr. Kia Ri sold over 3 tons of pomelos.
He said: “My pomelos are grown organically, so the quality is good. The selling price of pomelos is only two thirds of the time when the epidemic has not developed complicatedly. However, the income from selling pomelo helps him regain his investment capital such as fertilizers, pesticides, etc. If he cannot sell pomelos, he will not have the capital to reinvest.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan (Ngai Loi B village, Loi Binh Nhon commune, Tan An city) sowed one hectare of melons. Ms. Loan said that farmers in the hamlet who planted melons were all successful and had good prices in previous crop, but when the melon crop she planted was about to be harvested, the Covid-19 epidemic changed complicatedly, the whole people implemented the social distancing, travel restrictions. On the days of the harvest, her whole family "really worries" because traders refuse to buy about 20 tons of melons that are about to be harvested. However, thanks to the support of the People's Committee of Loi Binh Nhon Commune and the Farmers' Association of Tan An City, melons are connected to traders inside and outside the city.

Ms. Loan said: “My family seemed unable to sell melons, but thanks to the support of local authorities, melons are harvested and sold via Farmers' Association and Women's Unions of communes and wards. Although the selling price is cheaper than before, it is good to be sold and get back a part of the initial investment. Despite being "traded", according to Ms. Loan, the number of melons in the field still cannot be consumed due to the poor purchasing power of the people. Ms. Loan wants to sell all the melons left in the field with more than one ton.
In recent days, the headquarters of the Farmers' Association of Tan An City is always bustling, especially during the top days for weighing and dividing agricultural products to sell to the people. A representative of Tan An City Farmers' Association said that everyone worked hard but they had a lot of fun. The biggest joy of the Association in these days is to help farmers consume agricultural products, avoiding the situation somewhere is a surplus, but somewhere had a shortage.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, living in Ward 4, Tan An City, shared that her family is busy doing business all day, so there is no time to buy food to store, especially vegetables, tubers, fruits and meat. In the early days, the provincial government applied measures to suspend traditional markets and convenience stores that were crowded with people. Because of the fear of infecting Covid-19, Ms. Ngoc had to use a few vegetables and tubers left in her house.
However, when informed by the ward, Tan An City has a policy for a team of "special shippers" (including the Mass Mobilization Division, the Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations in the ward) to deliver to my own home via phone calls to order goods, so she did not worry any more. Through price consultation, Ms. Ngoc thinks that the price is very stable and will make purchases through this service to avoid going out, contacting strangers and avoiding disease transmission.
According to information from the Farmers' Association of Tan An City, the goods sold by the Association in collaboration with other units to the people are very diverse, including pork, eggs, vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds, etc. After 4 sales (2 weeks) with more than 8,200 kilos of vegetables, tubers and fruits sold to people. Most products are purchased directly from farmers whose supply chains have been disrupted due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. Goods are divided according to orders, delivered to a team of "special shippers". The price of the product sold is lower than the price at convenience stores thank to no middleman. At the same time, vegetables and tubers are very fresh because from the time of harvest to the hands of users quickly.
During the days of social distancing, My Thanh Agricultural Cooperative (Thu Thua district) increased its preliminary processing capacity, providing vegetables and fruits with an average quantity of up to 20 tons per day. Director of the cooperative - Nguyen Quoc Cuong said that the output of fruit and vegetable products is not lacking, still guaranteed according to the previously available goods of the cooperative. In the early days of implementing the social distancing, the cooperative faced difficulties in transportation and circulation to the consumption places in the provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. In recent days, the cooperative has been granted QR codes for goods transport vehicles entering the "green channel", reducing difficulties in transporting vegetables and fruits. However, the cooperative wants all vehicles that the cooperative has to be issued with a QR code to make it more convenient./.
