Finance Ministry tops Vietnam’s e-government development rankings

The Ministry of Finance has been named the leader among the ministries in Vietnam’s 2017 e-government rankings, as announced by the Ministry of Information and Communications on July 5.

The second and third positions belong to the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Justice respectively, while the Government Inspectorate is rooted at the bottom of the list.

The Ministry of Justice’s portal received the highest rating for its up-to-date information and useful support function, while the portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the lowest rated.

However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs came out on top for its online public service delivery, followed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Among the government agencies, Vietnam Social Security takes the top spot, with Vietnam Television and the Vietnam News Agency trailing behind in second and third place respectively.

In the ranking of the provinces and centrally-governed cities, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang and Lam Dong occupy the first three positions, while the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau is bottom.

Binh Duong province’s portal is the highest rated, while Binh Phuoc’s portal is on the opposite end.

Concerning online public service delivery, Thua Thien-Hue province is the leader, while Hai Duong province is the worst performer.

The e-government rankings are determined based on six categories, namely IT infrastructure, IT application in organisational operations, online portals, online public service delivery, IT application policies and IT personnel./.
